This is a famous 5-star hotel in Lotte Tower, the second highest building of Hanoi with an observation deck. Suitable for family travel, especially with kids. There's also Lotte mart and Lotte mall downstairs which you can shop or just dine with multiple choice for restaurant. Since this is a Korean brand, you will see a lot of Korean tourists in the hotel, as well as Korean products in the mart and the mall.
As a Vietnamese, I don't find the location to be great since there's nothing cultural or historical around to be seen, compared to Old quarter or West lake. You need to commute to places. However, its location is still center enough.
I got a Junior suite, which is around 64sqm, at the price of approx 150usd. I can't complain about it since it is a corner unit with plenty of clear view from the 43th floor. It's spacious with facilities.
Despite all of the good first impression, I gave the hotel 1 star and will never stay here again due to the following reasons.
Upon first look, I don't see the effort of them trying to be eco-friendly. I know the concept could just be green wash. However, I find the shampoo and shower gel plastic bottles are kind of not classy. Moreover, the water bottles aren't refillable but single use instead.
Secondly, there isn't a coffee machine in the room compared to Pullman hotel. Well, this is just a super nice yet small thing which I enjoyed so much that I have to list here. And the information on the paper (attached photo) has a typo in Vietnamese, whereas most of their staff are Vietnamese. I really don't understand that.
Now, the last thing that let me down is the staff's support. I got my period really unexpectedly and I thought I brought my feminine hygiene product but I totally left it out without noticing. I know these are on-call items so I rang the housekeeper. She said she's alone so she couldn't help and asked me to call the receptionist, who recommended me using the toilet paper instead (this is just insane) or going out and buy. I told her I was sorry but I couldn't leave the room and that's the reason I called for help. The receptionist, with an icy voice, promised to check with the bell boy if they can help me. And the final answer is: sorry, we can't help. That's it. Honestly, I said ok and hung up the phone without a single complaint but I was deeply disappointed and had to called for help from my friend, who lived nearby.
With multiple choices for 4 and 5 star hotels nowadays, the thing that defines and makes any of them stand out is good service. And that is definitely not what I had at...
Read moreI love this hotel. I read some of the reviews for Lotte before i arrived and was a bit worried. Some of the guest said it wasn’t as lux as the expected and the breakfast wasn’t amazing. Honestly I could not disagree with them more.
The staff is lovely, the rooms beautiful and very comfortable and quiet, the breakfast amazing and the common areas are all really relaxing. The hotel isn’t super close to the old quarter (about a 10 min cab) but for me that was perfect. After 2 weeks of traveling in Vietnam it was a tranquil retreat with an amazing view of the skyline. I would spend my mornings at the hotel, do touristy things in the afternoon and make my way back in the evening for a super restful sleep.
I loved the spa (included) that had a huge steam room, cedar sauna, hot tub + pools. They were also open pretty early and late which was great. Generally they were pretty quiet, i was the only person there on several visits. I also loved that the hotel has Grown Alchemy as their in room bath products.
The breakfast is on a high floor, and is all windows, the space is really calming, I spent a few hours here each day reading and having a leisurely breakfast. I loved that there were Korean, western and Vietnamese options that changed daily. The pastries were lovely, the fruit, greens and vegetable selection were abundant, there were eggs a bunch of different ways, the fish was a nice touch. My favorites were the rice and miso stations + the japchae i had on the last day. The drip coffee wasn’t great but the teas (hot and iced) were really nice. They also have lattes etc but i didn’t have one. I had a very early flight on my last day and the hotel organized for me to have a to-go breakfast which was also a nice touch.
Because the hotel shares the building with a supermarket and department store (other side separate entrance) there are also very good food options if you dont want to far for dinner. My favorite was Pizza 4Ps a small chain with sustainable sourcing. It’s always packed in old town but quiet at the department store.
There were some small things, its true the towels were not super fluffy and had wear. my shower water made a high pitched noise when i turned it to its hottest setting (which wasn’t super hot). There is no kettle +tea/coffee in the room. But the positives out way...
Read moreVacationed in Hanoi for one week and decided to stay at this 5 star hotel, I didn't go wrong. First impressions are important to me and this place didn't disappoint, the location is very convenient less than one hour from the airport, close to a wide array of restaurants and shops. You have the Lotte Centre on the street level as well as many restaurants to choose from offering Vietnamese cuisine as well as international. Walking distance from the hotel can do some shopping at the Vincome Megamall one block east. The hotel is posh, clean and comfortable, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I ever found in a hotel and the view of the city was worth every penny. I stayed in the Club Deluxe room which was quite spacious with plenty of storage space and conveniences. The price included breakfast buffet which in itself was impressive and extravagant. The property boasts spectacular views, world class restaurant, the highest bar in Hanoi, and a shopping mall. It's a little bit more expensive than other accommodations in Hanoi, but it's absolutely worth it. The most important thing to mention is the customer service, every single person I encountered was friendly, polite, helpful and efficient. If I could give them a better rating I would with no hesitation. If you are ever in Hanoi, look up this jewel of hotel in the heart of Hanoi. I am looking forward to my return.
Update: On my second stay this 2023, just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Lotte Hotel outperformed itself! From the moment you step in until your last second there, you will experience customer service quality you will not find anywhere else. The staff is amazingly friendly, polite, professional and accommodating. My room was even better this time around. Everything was just impeccable. I tried different hotels during this trip, but Lotte offers an experience you will not get anywhere else, by far my favourite hotel in Hanoi. Thank you Lotte for such an...
