Sesame — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Was staying at Elegant Suites Westlake in the Tay Ho District and wanted to try a nearby Vegan restaurant without driving into the Hanoi Old Town. Was a bit of a risk as there were no reviews on Happy Cow but was delighted to discover this fully vegan gem!

The owners were two women (possibly Mother and Daughter). The young woman spoke fluent English and explained the fully vegan menu to us. The more mature lady brought out the food and was super friendly and delightful despite the language barrier. Food was super delicious and we even had the privilege of dining alongside a Buddhist Monk.

Do you want vegetarian vietnamese food that tastes like it was made by your beloved granny? This is the place. I love the stewed fried tofu and tomatoes, it is so warm and comforting. The woman who runs is it is always welcoming and friendly. Cost wise, it's good and cheap for Tay Ho. My tofu and tomatoes with rice is 85k.

Great food, warm and friendly reception. The banana flower salad and the spring rolls wrapped in mustard green leaves were delicious. When the owner told me that one of the ingredients in the rolls was peanut butter I wasn't sure how it would work with the other flavours but I must say it was amazing especially how it blended with the soy sauce/wasabi dipping sauce. I wish I could have gone back. A must the next time...
