Turtle Lake Brewing Company was our next stop during our walk along Ho Tay Lake. After a relaxing time at Tree Bee Coffee, it was time to have a meal and try out some local craft beers!
At Turtle Lake Brewing Company, they have a great selection of craft beers including:
– First Leap Lager – Trans Pale Ale – VPA Vietnam Pale Ale – DIPA Double Edge Sword IPA – Helmet Boy Saison – O&2 Imperial Stout – Pilsner – Wheat Dream – Hanoi IPA – Red Bridge Red Ale – Mango Smoothie – Triple Hazy IPA – The OverLord – Hard Passion – Kennys Hard Lemonard – Sherry Pop
This time we ordered the First Leap Lager (60k VND or $3.5 SGD) and Trans Pale Ale (70k VND or $4 SGD) along with home made chips (125k VND or $7.5 SGD) and Brewers Burger (230k VND or $14 SGD)…
The craft beers from Turtle Lake Brewery were pretty refreshing. Particularly enjoyed Trans Pale Ale for its hoppy, crisp taste. In terms of food, Home Made Chips were actually quite good. They were thinly cut potato slices, deep fried and drenched in a delicious blue cheese and truffle dip. Probably one of the best chips we’ve had in a while. In fact, the dip was so good that we used it for the rest of the burger as well.
As for the Brewers Burger, the patty was a little dry – this was why the dip from the Home Made Chips came in handy. The Brewers Burger came with deep fried onion rings which was so fresh. Even though there were only 2 pieces, it was crispy on the outside and crunch on the inside. Again, one of the best home-made onion rings that we’ve made in a while. Plus, the bun was nicely toasted.

Sadly the at time we arrived, the place looked a bit disheveled & untidy. There was some maintenance of the beer lines or fridges at the front with workmen behind the bar and the lots of disorder it took time to receive our first order of beer.
Food was received very quickly and was very tasty! No fault there.
But the staff behind the bar had little to no knowledge of beer or common bar practices as they were sticking there fingers inside beer glasses prior to pouring pints and drinking soft drinks from cocktail shakers. No No NO!!
One staff member was wearing wireless earbuds completely disconnected from what was occurring and the manager / owner of the bar was having what seemed like an argument with a female member of staff who seemed disgruntled.
Bar areas were dirty and full of flies. This needs immediate cleaning attention. DAILY!
When we paid the bill, the staff member handling the payment of our bill did not know how to operate the card payment system so I had to coach her though using it.
Overall I give a 3/5 because this brewery has and can be everything I know and love about beer but is just missing some really key things and has to work hard on training staff, cleaning & service to really make it a...
Read moreAn amazing experience overall, seriously recommended, be it for date night, a night out with friends or just a few drinks by the lake. Was prompted through quite a few friends, as well as an article on summer beer cocktails by Hottable Asia, and I must say, it didn't disappoint. Took a group of friends there, and everything was on point: the setting, live music, cleanliness, service and customer care, food and drinks. Had the Dark Lake cocktail while some of my friends partook in craft beer reveleries... not one of us had any regrets at the end of the night. Special mention to the service though - one of our dishes was sent out late, apparently it had been overlooked in the order, and the server came along, apologising profusely and told us it would take 2/3 minutes before it would be ready, that the chef had put it as high priority. Not two minutes later the dish arrived, piping hot, with a still apologetic server, even though he didn't have much to do with the error. On another note, the price is going to be a tad more expensive than your regular dinner in Hanoi, but for the quality you get, it's more than reasonable. Try the Bun Cha Burger, or one of their flat breads - can't go wrong with...
