Hai Hồ Restaurant and Bar is a hidden gem owned and operated by the nicest family I have ever met. I first came here six years ago and stayed at the Wyndham Garden Hotel next door ( then under different ownership). I have tried most of the things on the menu and always more than happy with my meal. There are two sisters that manage the restaurant. One is the head chef and the other does everything else. So there has been no turnover in staff as in many restaurants. The ingredients are purchased daily at Bà Lê market and fish from local markets. The calamari is the best I’ve ever had and never bother ordering at other restaurants because I’m always disappointed. The lemongrass chicken is superb as is every thing on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant!! And the families of the daughters and their parents and brother will make you feel at home. If you’re not real hungry, order one of the salads. The mango or banana flowers salads are my favorites! They also have a nice selection of beers and spirits and the cocktails are great.
I would also mention that they have a minimart with snack foods and an assortment of things you may need. Plus laundry service is available as well. On the restaurant side , I would give this 6...
Read moreWe are spending a week based next door at Wyndham Gardens, and 5 nights into the holiday, we have had one lunch and two dinners at Hai Ho already. From the outside, it looks so basic and unassuming, but as can often be the case in Asia (I've lived in Bangkok for 5 years), you should never judge a book by its cover. This restaurant is wonderful. The food is outstanding. We have had the chicken curry, which is rich in flavour with coconut, the deep fried red snapper which is so fresh and tasty, the beef luck lac which is a beautiful dish with lemongrass flavors, and mango salad and froed chicken rice. My kids have murdered the chicken nuggets! Both evening meals were identical in quality. So good. The only thing nicer than the food is the wonderful family that runs it. So sweet and so kind. The food is as good as anything in Hoi An old town, and much, much cheaper. It is fully...
Read moreWe have been to Vietnam 3 times now and have tasted a lot of good food. This time we stayed at Wyndham Gardens Hotel and went to try the food next door. I kid you not, this food is amazing and some of the best we’ve had. Hubby had the pork clay pot. The kids had the sweet and sour chicken and cashew chicken and I had the mango salad with calamari as I am allergic to shellfish. They catered to our needs and delivered us the most tasty and fresh food possible. The spring rolls are a must too. They’re actually some of the best if not the best spring rolls I’ve tasted. Do yourselves a favour and try it out. The staff are a beautiful family and are very accommodating. We will definitely visit again before we go and tell all of our Aussie friends to visit....
