Chewy Chewy - Choux Bakery — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I saw the reviews and the photos of their delights - so I stopped in to try some and take some to go.

I tried earlier to order online and delivery, but the site only allows Vietnam phone numbers and all I had was my US international plan. So no-go there! That is NOT good! But, they're not far from where I was staying.

First off, I ordered a Trà Hibicus Quả Mọng Tea. Wow, very, very delicious with pieces of (I think) berries throughout.

Ok curious, I saw the 2 Floss on the menu: chicken and pork. I assumed they had chunks of poultry or meat in them: NO!

They are, as the wonderful Vietnamese barista-server tried to explain in fractured-English (struggling), I heard 'mayo' 'sugar' but not sure if she could say much else I could understand. 🤣

So I tried a Chicken Floss. It's basically a sandwich with a tough, chewy-type of pastry or bread-dough product, top and bottom. And filled with a oozing cream or maybe like a runny custard?? Not thick or easily contained. But they drip or ooze and make a mess all over.

They're also topped with a shredded something - looks cheezy -or- maybe its poultry or pork, based on the selection? Who knows? The server served it (luckily) on a plate with a very small spoon.

Those 2 types, I'll pass on. I can't understand why they would give them the names: pork or chicken. It's a mystery...

However, I took many of the fruit-varieties with me. Now those are really fine, especially the Black Pearl: loaded with berries and cream and not too oozy-messy either! MAGNIFICO I didn't think they were that sweet - which is also good!

Get this. Just for an experiment, I slipped a few of the fruit-based into the freezer in hopes of making the cream inside thicker and less messy. Yes, do that and they're nearly like an ice cream desert!

The pastry is actually chewy but in a good way. The filling is really really good, its where whipped cream meets buttercream/pudding. We had 3 different flavours but they are actually just the toppings, the cream inside is the same. They are filled when you order so you have to wait a few minutes. Vừa tính tiền vừa cười nói với nhau, không nói với khách rõ không áp dụng cho bánh lẻ. Mình nói không muốn lấy nữa thì kêu tính tiền xong rồi. Mình không thấy được sự cố gắng giải quyết làm khách hài lòng. Tính tiền xong cũng không thấy bốc phiếu giảm giá lần sau theo chương trình, lát mình phải tự hỏi. Riêng quán này của chuỗi Chewy là quán tự phục vụ đúng ko? Quán nhân viên nói chuyện khá ồn ào, nhạc cũng to không nghe rõ order. Bánh thì mình thấy trong tủ lạnh ít topping hơn so với chi nhánh quận 7. Không biết nhận bánh thực sẽ như nào. Thích bánh Chewy nhưng hôm nay trải nghiệm không tốt chút nào!!!
