As someone who’s always on the lookout for authentic Indian food, I was thrilled to discover Dalcheeni INDIAN Restaurant in the Ho Chi Minh City. This place truly brings the flavors of India to life and is a must-visit for anyone craving home-style Indian cuisine outside of India.
Food: The menu here is extensive, offering everything from chaat, rich curries and tandoori specialties. They serve the best soups which brings a real taste to the mouth. We started with the tandoori starters, it hit the spot. For the main course, I tried the butter chicken and dal tadka with naan. The butter chicken was creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The dal was comforting, with a smoky flavor that reminded me of homemade meals back in India. Their biryani was also fantastic—fragrant rice with rich blend of spices.
For dessert, they wide variety where it is just like I remember it from India.
Service: The service was impeccable. The staff was incredibly attentive and polite, offering recommendations when we weren’t sure what to order. The food came out quickly, and the waiters made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The ambiance is also inviting, with Indian-inspired decor and soft Bollywood music playing in the background, which added to the overall experience.
Ambiance: The decor is simple but beautifully designed, with vibrant colors and traditional Indian artwork on the walls. It has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner with friends or family. The restaurant is popular, but the staff manages the flow well, so it never feels too crowded or rushed.
Value: While a bit on the pricier side compared to some local options, the quality of the food and the authentic experience makes it worth every penny. The portion sizes are generous, and the flavors are spot on. It's clear that they use fresh ingredients, and the attention to detail in the preparation is evident.
Final Thoughts: Whether you're new to Indian food or a seasoned fan, Bollywood Bites offers a truly authentic and delicious dining experience. The flavors take you straight to India, and the quality is consistently great. It’s my new go-to spot whenever I’m craving a taste of home, and I can’t wait to return with more friends to share the...
Read moreWe were a group of 10 friends and visited this restaurant during our vacation at Vietnam in January 2024. The hospitality and courtesy extended was pathetic to say the least. Some of the issues we faced:
Incident 1. We asked for house water to drink and we were served water which was warm. When asked why it was warm, we were curtly told by the Manager Jiban that it is tap water. We asked whether it is filtered and could be consumed, he slyly mentioned that it is not and it's not advisable to consume.
Issue - why was it served in the first place? Why was it not mentioned to the guest politely before that the house water is unfiltered and not advisable to be consumed. If a guest insists after being informed, then it is their look out.
We had ordered subzee (Vegetables dish) and it took longer than usual to be served. Issue - When asked -, how long it would take, the same manager Jiban states that it takes time. We ignored this time.
We ordered Garlic Naan and it was served without butter. . It is the first time I had seen garlic Naan being served without butter unless asked for.
Issue - when Jiban the Manager was asked, he rudely replied that we should have mentioned beforehand while ordering that butter needs to be applied. This is the weirdest explanation we came across. This guy never admitted his fault or is guilty conscious.
Racist remark - Being an Indian himself, he had the audacity to tell us that we Indians create too much fuss!!! Slow claps for him!!
Overall feedback - This restaurant would fall in the category of a premium dine-in considering the ambience and price. The food was average in taste, the restaurant owner spent good on the exterior and interior of the restaurant but he needs to work on improving the taste and soft skills of his staff.
I would never...
Read moreMy recent dinner date at Dalcheeni in Ho Chi Minh City was an enjoyable experience for two, with our bill coming to about 400,000 VND—very reasonable for the quality and setting. We ordered a biryani, aloo kulcha, and fish tikka masala. The biryani was fragrant and delicious, featuring tender rice and a subtle balance of spices that didn’t overpower the dish. The aloo kulcha was soft, buttery, and filled generously with flavorful spiced potatoes—a perfect complement.
The fish tikka masala stood out, boasting tender chunks of fish in a creamy, mildly tangy sauce, well-rounded in flavor without being too rich. The food portions were filling for two and well-presented.
Dalcheeni provides a cozy and elegant ambiance, making it an ideal choice for a date night or special occasion. The staff were attentive, friendly, and proactive with suggestions, ensuring we felt welcomed from start to finish. The space is clean and tastefully decorated in an Indian style, which added to the experience. Beyond the great food, the service impressed us—our servers were quick and enthusiastic about explaining the menu.
Overall, I found Dalcheeni to be a solid choice for Indian cuisine in Saigon, offering authentic flavors, good value, and a romantic setting. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for quality Indian food and a memorable dining...
