The reviews are boosted by what I noticed a population of customers from countries with lower standards so trust the reviews knowing that.
The overall feeling is that it is a great luxurious location but the maintenance and housekeeping doesn't keep up with the deep work (deep cleaning and minimim essential maintenance of the ventilation system). It is compensated partially by a very reactive team but they quickly reach their limit were you can feel solving a simple issue is a big challenge for them and they will prefer to use alternative ways to try to ease you or politely ignore your requests instead of solving the problem.
I left to an other hotel with a bitter taste of unsatisfaction facing multiple issues on a daily basis there. I feel I lost a lot of time and energy and regret deeply my choice of putting my trust into this hotel.
Pros : perfect location, in the heart of District 1, in a secondary calm street a responsive manager able to bring quickly solutions high ceiling, spacious private room and dorms
Cons : Super noisy location especially on high level with the vibrations of night clubs The temperature controller of the room didn't work - I had to freeze at 18°C (supposedly 20°C) or sweat at a humid 33+°C not enough lighting in the sink area - cannot shave properly very superficial cleaning in many places : dust here and there, a bit of balck mold here and there heavily stained and dirty carpeted floor in corridors tiled floor are a bit filthy : all the joints are blackened of dirt the floor of the room was slightly sticky walls are stained almost everywhere traces of water damages on different ceilings smelly / moldy air conditioning in the co-working space as well as in some certain private rooms products to clean the AC stayed in the air for many days improper maintenance of all AC (odors, dust, mold... etc) no towel hanger around the sink area stained chairs and sofa in...
Read moreBest hostel I ever stayed at! I am currently backpacking in South-east Asia and this is the first hostel I stayed in Vietnam. I try to alternate between "social" hostels and more "private" ones, as sometimes I want to meet people and sometimes I need to set some time to write, reorganise myself or learn Japanese. This hostel is more on the "private" side, and it was exactly what I needed! So why was it the best hostel I have stayed at? Super clean everywhere Great showers. Warm water, high pressure, plenty of space, plenty of soap, shampoo and conditioner Toilets can have a warm seat and have that bidet mechanism with buttons Beds in the dorms are spacious, and have a lot of storage space next to them (I think it might be just the bottom beds though) Lockers are big, and have space underneath them, where you can place your shoes or even a big suitcase if you have one. There is also a rack for your wet towel There is a coworking space if you want to chill with your laptop for some time Internet is fast in all of the hostel Location is central with the best Japanese ramen restaurant I ever went to (Ittou Ramen), 4 mins walking away. I haven't been to Japan yet, but I had my fair share of ramen! All staff was very helpful and kind! They have prepared a list for places to go to, food to eat, activities to do etc and they share it with you in paper or digitally They have a slide from the coworking space on the first floor to the ground floor!
Overall, I had a great experience there and I am quite sad to leave. I have really enjoyed my stay in Saigon, and this hostel played a big part in...
Read moreNothing but good things to say about my recent stay in Meander Saigon! Aside from being well-thought out, and being above and beyond with their service and hospitality, I think these are worth mentioning:
WARM PEOPLE From check in - the person who was in charge of the Smile Station (true to it's name) a.k.a front desk made me feel very welcomed despite the 1AM arrival. After leading me to my room, I told him I was going to order delivery. He even waited with me until I get my food around 2AM, without making me feel like an inconvenience. Sir, I forgot to ask your name, but I am very grateful!
Everyone in the staff always receive and keenly answers the guest's questions/concerns.
CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, SPACIOUS I stayed in one of the female dorms, but felt very content with the space and privacy. They also provide basic amenities (toothbrush, comb, cotton buds, fresh towel, etc.) just by asking the staff at the front desk.
Shower rooms and toilets were clean (also have cozy music you can listen to while getting ready!). Shampoo, conditioner, and soaps, smells divine! Blow dryer - plus points.
Super plus points - unlike some places , they don't ask deposit or bother you with the towels! You can actually have a fresh one everytime (hamper provided in the shower room for used towels).
FREE CITY TOUR -I had opportunity of being shown around and having a wonderful conversation with Xi while walking around District 1. Thank you for the Bac Xiu, it was absolutely delicious!
Thank you Meander! Will definitely be...
