Quán Ut Ut is a 3 story American barbecue joint in a bit of a weird location. This review will include the food I ate, prices, wait times, and more. As I first sat down, I noticed that the plates were clean and menus were given to us quickly. The menus double as a place-mat which is cool. I took out a knife from the utensil holder and it wasn’t very clean so I took another one. It wasn’t a big deal. The staff was talking a lot which was fine but then this one dude who was acting pretty arrogant started singing really loudly and it got on my nerves. At one point he tied his shoes by putting his foot on one of the seats behind my dad which I found unprofessional. In general the staff was very nice, it was just him. On the tables there were three unique sauces that you can add to whatever food you are eating. I liked that. There was a wide selection of beer due to the fact that they have an in-house micro brewery owned by the company “Biacraft”. Biacraft has two brewery locations, one being Quán Ut Ut. This place offers delivery. It wasn’t as busy as it usually is. I ate here at around 6:50 PM. Good selection of beer-snacks here (including fun things like deep fried pickles and bacon ice cream). They offer bottomless soda as well. You get bang for your buck here. Compared to local prices, it’s not cheap but it’s worth the portions you get. They have 1 or 2 steaks here which is odd considering all of the other meats they had. Okay, now for the food. It was me, my mom, my dad, and my good friend eating. We ordered Loaded Cheese fries with pork, Bacon trio (sugarcane habanero, hopped beer, brown sugar). Buffalo wings with golden sauce instead of firecracker sauce. Bacon Bacon Burger. Cashew-smoked ribs. Sides of green bean and grilled okra. The cheese fries were absolutely delicious. There wasn’t any cheese oddly enough but the pulled pork was tangy and tender and the fries were like the birth child of Morgan Freeman and Gordon Ramsay himself - they were good. The fries were just crispy around the outside which made them so special. The pork was a bit dry but it wasn’t a problem. The highlight of the meal was the Bacon trio. The dish included sugarcane habanero bacon, hopped beer bacon, and brown sugar bacon. The sugarcane had a special sweetness to it and wasn’t spicy at all, the hopped beer bacon was WAY too spicy, and the brown sugar bacon wasn’t too sweet - it was perfect. The buffalo wings I ate were weird. I chose the golden sauce (sweet and tangy) instead of firecracker (spicy) because I didn’t feel like anything spicy. The chicken was cooked well and they arrived at the table hot but the sauce was pasty. As if it were powdered. My friend ordered the Bacon Bacon Burger. It was packed with bacon, a big patty, onions, mustard and ketchup, and other shredded vegetables. According to him, the patty was juicy and the bread was a good size - it wasn’t overwhelming like other burgers he’s had. Let me tell you about the Cashew-smoked ribs. According to the manager, the ribs are smoked for about 6 hours in the morning off location and brought back to the restaurant in the afternoon. When someone orders, they finish it on the grill and paint it with their signature barbecue sauce. Personally I would have preferred more sauce on the ribs. The meat fell off the bones and melted in your mouth. The fat added a creamy touch to the pork. Their sauce is very flavorful and a very good part of the ribs. All in all, it was a beautiful part of the meal. The okra and green bean sides were grilled and pretty standard. A generous amount of fried garlic was on top. In general they put a lot of oil in their food. It makes the food pretty rich and fills you up pretty fast. I would recommend this place to anyone and I am for sure coming back. Highly recommended. 4/5

Saw the great reviews here and wanted to chime in with my affirmation that this place is legit. Being in HCMC for a few days, one might find it odd to order St Louis style ribs, especially since there is so much great food here. But the heart wants what it wants. Sometimes you need a break from local fair. I had my suspicions but there was a good size group of people upstairs. So much so, they didn’t have room for me so they put me downstairs near the kitchen. I was swarmed with flies and got a very painful bite (yes, flies do bite humans) so I asked to be moved. The upstairs is where you want to be. Communal picnic tables with the basket of sauces and the roll of paper towels. Very authentic. The vibe is nice but not upscale. Based on my servers recommendations, I ordered the Cashew Smoked pork ribs, 330k for half rack and 580k for a full. It comes on a wood cutting board with two sides. I got the seasoned fries and okra. I’m not a bbq aficionado but I’ve had my share of St Louis style wet ribs and this was beautifully succulently slow cooked. I didn’t taste smoke or see smoke rings so I imagine these were oven cooked. The meat was fatty and rich, delicious, I experienced heart palpitations afterwards, a good sign. It’s very high on my top 5 meals here. What a surprise to come to Vietnam to have great bbq ribs. The sides were awesome as well. The fries were seasoned perfectly and the okra was delicious. A great joint, doing BBQ right. Highly recommend.

I really liked the food for the most part, but not the service overall. The menu has quite a few spots where it says "Ask your server for details!".. which we tried to no avail. It would make more sense to just give the details on the menu, as this method left us with nothing. The "maroulette" would be an example. We asked, the server said "Chocolate. You want spicy?" - I don't understand what game we were daring to play there. Same situation for the flight of beer. Everyone had been keen on it... It was really unclear how it worked and the server wrote down -10,000 on a piece of paper but no one ended up ordering the flights because we didn't know how much it was. The bottomless drink situation includes flagging someone down and waiting for them to replace th drink.. which really just leaves you drink less for 10 minutes each time. If I'd just ordered a water I'd feel better- it's like overcommitting just to let down. 🤷 I really wanted to like this place because friends and family love it. I don't feel super insistent that everyone cater to me in English, but I'd love to see the "ask for details" come with a one pager that staff can hand over if they aren't confident in explaining the details. Would solve a lot!

Excellent BBQ! Top notch. And excellent service too. All of the restaurant staff were very helpful and kind. We ordered the “oh heo yeah” Saigon-style pork ribs, the sweet sugarcane fish-sauce glazed bbq chicken, and the pork belly burnt ends. As sides, we had fries, honey grilled pineapple, fried okra, and bbq pumpkin. Each item was very good, but the pork ribs definitely stood out compared to the rest. If you go to this restaurant, get the “oh heo yeah” Saigon pork ribs!!! They were fall-off-the-bone, tender, and the fish sauce glaze was very flavorful. Be aware: because fish sauce salty, the ribs are a tad bit salty as well, but not overly so. Just be aware of that if you are sensitive to salt. The pork belly burnt ends were really good, but I do have a small gripe about them: they aren’t really “burnt ends” in the true sense (for those who are unfamiliar with Texas BBQ, burnt ends are usually the tip of the beef brisket that gets a lot of charred crust on it. They are typically packed with flavor from the thick crust.) - so not sure why they are named that. But they still tasted good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a Vietnamese twist on American BBQ! And get the ribs!

I ordered the Bacon Bacon Burger (249K/$9.75), and while I waited, I started to feel it was taking a long time. The order receipt stated 5:48, so it was over 20 minutes at that point. I did receive the burger before 30 minutes (barely), but when I saw the burger, I was surprised at the size. I noticed it was rather small. Upon inspection, it was a little bit larger than one of the fries. This is (I believe) the most expensive burger on their menu and on the higher end of avg burger prices (in HCMC), yet the size of the burger was a half size larger than an American slider. The bacon is large, and with the fried onion, the burger does look nice. Initially, it tasted pretty good, but there were fatty chunks that made parts of it a little tough to chew. The fries were standard, but they weren't warm. It seemed like they made the fries and then forgot to make the burger and gave me those same fries. The price of this burger is definitely too high. If this was 160K/$6.25, that's about the most it should be. If it was closer to 120K/$4.70, this might be a pretty good burger. I was surprised there was no VAT or service fee.

Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Everything was seasoned nicely not overly salty or sweet at all I really felt I was in America eating a plate of BBQ haha We especially loved the pork shoulder it was so tender and flavor was on point. Portion may look small at first glance especially when you’re starving but trust me, this filled up 2 people very quickly we were super satisfied!! the restaurant is big and spacious and ambiance is great. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, very knowledgeable about their menu. I came on 28/09 around 7pm I couldn’t get her name but the girl that first explained the menu to me was very kind and did a great job at pointing out all details. Throughout the night Mylo and Dạt were very attentive without being obtrusive which we appreciated a lot. Food was brought out quickly and draft beer options were great as well names are hilarious lol Thank you Mylo and Dạt for helping us throughout the night! Definitely recommend. :)
