Once again, a wonderful break from the outside out of Ho Chi Minh City - but it’s not just a shelter for those, like me, that can’t handle the heat (or the humidity)!
Initially, they were reluctant to even let us in (13 minutes before their 5pm opening). It’s not the first time this has happened and I usually just walk away with the attitude of “what” - you don’t want my business - ‘double what’. It just BOGGLES ME that people would be willing to turn away customers when they are SO hard to find.
Anyhow, thanks to Google Translate, we managed to weasel our way in and they even turned and pointed a large A/C toward our table.
After that initial misunderstanding, the service was ‘top-notch’. Kien (Craig) was our server - a true asset to the business + his English was exceptional, which always helps.
The food was very good though the Pork Ribs were a little fatty. As usual, the Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls were excellent, only these were wrapped in a tofu skin, which was a nice change. The beef in black bean was really good and came with a nice amount of green and red bell peppers (and no onions, which is usually what they mound the plate with). The Tiger beer was served nice and cold as was the bottled water. We had a plate of Chinese broccoli which looked nothing like traditional broccoli and there wasn’t a lot of leaf (all stalk), but tasty nonetheless.
I couldn’t help but notice that this is the very first hand dryer in any bathroom in the whole of Vietnam that I have found that actually dry’s your hands!! (It’s like a Dyson). Every single hand-dryer to date has been so feeble, you would actually have to stand there for 20-30 minutes to actually dry your hands....
Read moreSo many issues with this place. Floors are wet and greasy, I almost slipped and broke my neck. I even saw one of the employees slipping while holding a tray in his hands. Why don't they mop up the floors? Guess they're too busy playing games on their mobile phone like the Host/Supervisor guy was. We ordered a variety of meats but half of them they were out of so we only got try a few items, mostly seafood. We also ate the hotpot. Nothing noteworthy about the taste of their food. Edible but nothing special. The buffet food was boring and tasteless - fried fish and some veggies. The AC unit by our table wasn't turned on until towards the end of our meal, meanwhile I was sitting there uncomfortably warm during my dinner. There are so many other options in Saigon for hotpot or BBQ, do not go to this place. ...
Read moreThis place services are horrible, over rates and over prices, the portions of each plates are small compared to other restaurant. We orders 5 each of quails.. ... but they told us they have sold out after we finished all other disks ,after 75 minutes of waiting . If there's is a negative stars available, I would selecting it.the head waiters are rude and un-attentive to patrant need. Seem like they don‘t care of our business. Take it or leaves it attitude.. ..... you know what I meant. I wouldn't given any one this types of comment. But I feel like I am obligate to warned others to think twice before they go there to spend their hard earn money. Go try some places else. Horrible experience to celebrated new year's lunching. 2019....
