Great cocktails. Great venue. Terrible service. We went here on a recommendation online. Drinks are punchy and deliscious (if not a little pricey). Prices exclude 10% VAT and 5% service charge. The service was abysmal. Staff hadn't a clue. A 'hostess' wandered around aimlessly. It took ages for our drinks to be made and served. We asked for the bill and 15 mins later had to ask again saying we needed it quickly please. It still took another 10 minutes. The staff have clearly had no training and are aimless. Charging 5% Service is ridiculous. They shouldn't do table service if they can't do it properly as it threatens the reputation of what could be excellent bar. Also the vibe when we were there was awful. Someone upstairs was spilling drinks on guy below (twice) and the atmosphere felt volatile and uneasy. The staff didn't know what to do. Drinks 4 out out of 5. Service / ambience 1 out of 5 (in fact I refused to pay the 5% service on our bill). I felt bad but I'm not getting ripped off and setting a precedent for others to be ripped off to. I will happily pay service where it's deserved bit im not paying for terrible service. Also the loud music ruins any...
Read moreAtmosphere 7.5/10 Not too easy to find the entrance (2nd floor of a random building in HCMC). Loft-y industrial bar design with high ceilings - 2 floors. Casual vibe, but the bar area felt a bit “disconnected” from the rest of the room. Pleasant music volume (EDM)
Drinks 8/10 Recommendation: Coconut Creamery Good signature cocktail selection, but minus points for digital-only menu (iPad). Drinks tasted good, interesting recipes. Good quality glassware. Nice coasters
Service 3/10 Friendly team, good English skills - took time to explain the menu. But no water - only bottled water for purchase. No further service. Prices are significantly above average for Ho Chi Minh City, and thus the experience...
Read moreThis was one of the first and one of the best speakeasy cocktail bars in HCM, and was my first introduction to Vietnams burgeoning cocktail culture. Sadly it has fallen off quite a bit in the last 1-2 years.
On my last, and will be my last time visiting: Was not informed that water was for purchase only(no other bar charges for water). The cocktail menu is not as good as it used to be. I therefore ended up spending 400k on an old fashioned that was good, but not worth that. Also no bar snacks.
I’m sad , because I would always make sure to come through here any time I was in Ho Chi Minh, but there are just too many better options now to justify coming...
