A hyped-up Thai restaurant on Vietnamese TikTok. Detailed review down below but for tldr: they served me raw chicken. our table service was very inattentive and looked confused the entire time. the place is too crowded.
At the beginning, we were ignored by our server for a good 5 minutes. Later I accidentally spilled sauces I think, and the server saw it but did nothing until my mom told her to clean it up, which she used a dirty napkin from a previous customer’s table to clean it. Quite unsanitary. A different server came to help clean it.
Food. The dishes here are quite expensive btw; it is definitely more expensive than other Thai restaurants. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I think the food here is not good. It wasn’t memorable to me what went wrong, but I think it was probably the lack of flavors and cold foods. I ordered some dishes including the chicken satay, which was raw. I told our server about it, and she didn’t say sorry nor took it away. Then, that same different server mentioned above took over and accompanied us the rest of our meal.
They did ended up giving me coconut ice cream at the end to make up for this, but the original server did not come to say anything at all. I would probably have rated this place higher if I remember any good food, but sadly I don’t because they weren’t good. And with bad service with crowded customers, I won’t...
Read moreI recently dined at Som Tum Thai and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, my party and I were met with a long wait, which was understandable given that the restaurant had just reopened after the Lunar New Year festivities. However, the wait extended beyond reasonable expectations, hinting at potential management issues.
When the food finally arrived, it was clear that the kitchen was struggling to keep up. Each dish came out agonizingly slow, and when they did, they failed to impress. Despite the restaurant’s aesthetic charm, the food did not live up to expectations. The flavors were lackluster and failed to capture the essence of authentic Thai cuisine.
Adding to the disappointment was the portion size. Each serving was surprisingly small, especially considering the steep prices. It felt like we were paying a premium for what amounted to meager portions of mediocre food. This discrepancy between price and portion size further underscored the restaurant’s shortcomings in management and quality control.
Overall, my dining experience at Som Tum Thai fell short of expectations. While the aesthetic vibe was appealing, the slow service, subpar food quality, and overpriced, undersized portions left much to be desired. I hope that the management addresses these issues to ensure a more satisfying experience for...
Read moreFood is great but services need to be considered again. The staff treat the customer well but they are communicating with each other so loud and using bad words, which is unacceptable in front of the customers??? Cause the bars and the kitchens are right in front of customers and it is designed to be open bar, so the bartender girls keep talking with the staff inside the kitchen and gossiping. However, food is great, I love the Scallop cooked with lime, fried fish with mango salad. Drinks are good and well decorated, highly recommended the green milk tea with black tapioca. The staff was a little bit confused and disorganized when taking my dad's order already and cancel it because they need to go to cook the tea, after asking him that it would take a little bit long and he agreed that, they kept cancel because the portion is too small for them to cook the whole pot. Lobster is not really special but all the sauces here goes well with any food haha. They also give free salad appetizers with their special which...
