Le Monde Steak — Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

A rather unpleasant experience. I was lured in by the banner promoting the Beef Wellington at around 270k. It was actually 270k per person, and it was minimum two people. That was fine, because I was with a friend.

There wasn't many people in the restaurant, but we had to wait to be seated because the tables were dirty while there was many staff around doing nothing.

Then we ordered the Beef Wellington and two glasses of wine. The wine never came out even we told them were waiting for the wine. We had time to finish the dish, and finally ordered something else because we were thirsty after eating.

The Beef Wellington itself was not good. The meat was barely warm. And the inside was not filled with the usual farce. Some things were missing. But the worst is, it was very under seasoned. Very bland, which might fit Vietnamese palates, but not my European one. The accompanying sauce was the same. I had to add a huge amount of salt. It really was tasteless.

The place itself was nice and bright. But the service was bad. Almost no customers around, but staff was inattentive. Rather be one their phone behind the counter than make sure we had everything we needed.

Le Monde is a French restaurant that specializes in steak prepared with authentic French flavor and technique. To my surprise, the steak was soft, tender, and perfectly cooked to a medium-well, with a rich sauce on the side that enhanced the savory flavors beautifully.

I’ve eaten at many steakhouses in the U.S., and considering the quality and price, this place is a bargain—meals cost around $11–12 USD including a drink, which would be double or triple the price back home. It’s definitely more expensive than a typical Vietnamese meal, but well worth it if you’re willing to spend a little extra for a delicious, well-executed steak.

That said, the restaurant was a bit warm, possibly due to efforts to save on electricity, which made the dining area slightly uncomfortable during peak hours. If you’re going to spend a bit more money, air conditioning should at least be a standard. It was my 2nd time here today and it was not pleasant. I ordered 2 combos and only one served. I had to wait for a while but no staff told me anything until i waved at them, they said they had some problems in the kitchen but they could make dishes for other tables without a thought to notice me??? No appology was given!! The new combos looked unexpectedly differently to the picture they put on the ads. My combo was served without black garlics which I wanted to try. Too sad to tell the staff after a long time of waiting. Just wanted to get out of there quickly
