Pro: Location D2, atmosphere & decor, customer service Con: Not for budget travelers
My friend recommended this place. Additional bike parking is available across the street as theirs is limited. The name Vintage is correct this place feels cool and hip. We were seated right away and a nice lady took our order. I had something like a breakfast bowl , mango something and my friend the salmon breakfast dish I think. I was a bit disappointed with my selection because of the portion and the taste. When I saw my dish I felt like a high end restaurant serving. Considerably big plate for the portion served. For almost 7 usd I was expecting something better. I pay around that in California, not in Vietnam. I noticed many foreigners here, perhaps the place caters to visitors and expats. Overall, great service, place with a good vibe, food was only ok.
Read moreAfter typing-delete-change-type-add-delete more, I found closer approach for this review: Dempsey Village. (reference to a Singapore's well-known heritage location, where you will find embassies flying state colors that contain, stars and stripes on red, white and blue with powerful proximity to Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
OK. Many apologies. I digress... why Dempsey? At the Vintage Emporium, you will find (probably) the menu you loved so much at P.S. Cafe, lined with furnitures that carries distinct designs that reminds you of Grandma, and dotted with random, aged ornaments that you will find at Tung's Antiques. Not forgetting, a green comfortable environment for that chilled glass of sauvignon after work which you can find at the Wine Company.
Got the picture now?
Perhaps all this reminders will also highlight the unfortunate lack of sprawling green lawns beneath that old Flame of the Forest beyond P.S Cafe patio. Instead of children from any nationality sharing some play time on the safety of carpeted greenery, you might find cabs and grabikers blaring their horns past you as you exit this retrospace.
Food is pretty good, all-day breakfast available here, if you must. And perhaps it is time for a refresh to the menu.
The staff are always eager to help and most speaks basic English, so hold your expectations in check. If need be, point to the menu item + indicate with fingers for number of portions.
Typically, a young trendy crowd from local executives in various high profile start-ups nearby, visitors from Singapore (of course), China, UK, EU... international crowd. And of course from the University of Economics HCMC right across the street.
Another outlet is opened in the main expat residential District 2 / Thao Dien / Saigon HCMC too.

Entering the place without welcome feeling, a waitress asked me how many people then let me stand there waiting for table even though they still had available seats. Even I asked them again about seats for waiting table or space to wait but they ignore me & told me to stand wherever to wait. The place was crowded with expats and servers did not look locals into their eyes. After 10 mins waiting, they put me to a dirty table right after previous guests left, left me a menu and left one again. My friends was coming later so there is only me at the time so I ordered one drink first. After another 20 mins, I finally got my drinks, tasteless, sugar free as they advertised on the menu. It is fresh but taste bad. Breakfast portion was big but not impressed. It is normal american breakfast. Menu was limited, not many options for sweets. Pricing is not reasonable with services & experience. With the same amount , you can spend a good sunday brunch at Marcel or elsewhere. The vintage emporium is not so vintage. Not gonna come back if services...
