I was taking a leisurely stroll through this park, trying to escape the hustle & bustle of Tan Dinh Market. It was one of those perfectly balmy afternoons when the park was bustling with activity. Kids were playing, joggers were doing their thing, and vendors were selling everything from ice cream to those bizarrely addictive fried sweet potato balls.

I decided to take a break and grab a cold drink from one of the vendors. As I’m sipping on my iced tea, I notice this elderly gentleman sitting on a park bench, intently watching a group of young people practicing Tai Chi. Now, I’ve seen Tai Chi before, but this guy? He’s completely mimicking their moves with this incredibly serious look on his face, like he’s determined to become the grandmaster of Tai Chi by the end of the session.

I couldn’t help but chuckle, and so did a few passersby. Eventually, the Tai Chi group noticed and invited him to join in. The gentleman, with a big grin, happily obliged. What followed was a hilarious display of synchronized Tai Chi—well, sort of. It was less about perfect form and more about everyone having a good laugh together.

It was a moment of pure joy and camaraderie that summed up the spirit of this place: a place where people come together, relax, and share a bit...

Le Van Tam Park is one of the most well-known green spaces in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Located in District 1, the park provides a refreshing escape from the city’s busy streets. With its wide walking paths, tall trees, and peaceful atmosphere, it is a favorite destination for people of all ages—whether for morning exercise, casual strolls, or simply relaxing under the shade.

The park also holds historical significance, as it was built on the site of an old cemetery. Today, it has transformed into a lively community space that hosts cultural events, book fairs, and outdoor activities. This blend of history and modern use makes it unique compared to other parks in the city.

One of the highlights of Le Van Tam Park is its accessibility. Surrounded by central roads and near many schools and offices, it is always filled with life, especially in the mornings and evenings. However, the park could be improved with more recreational facilities and better maintenance in some areas.

Overall, Le Van Tam Park is not just a green lung for the city but also a social and cultural hub, making it a meaningful part of urban life in Ho...

Le Van Tam Park represents a harmonious blend of history and nature, transforming from a former cemetery into a beloved public space.

The six-hectare grounds feature tall trees, manicured lawns, and flower beds. Mornings and evenings are particularly active, with people enjoying various exercises. Badminton courts echo with rallies while tai chi practitioners move gracefully on the lawn.

The park's history is layered. During French colonial times, it was "Jardin du Père d'Ormoy" cemetery, later becoming "Mac Dinh Chi Cemetery" before its transformation into a park after 1975. It's named after Vietnamese hero Le Van Tam.

Location is a key advantage. Situated in District 1's Da Kao area, surrounded by major streets and well-served by bus routes, accessibility is excellent.

Weekends bring special vibrancy. Children play on equipment, families relax on lawns, and social dance groups gather. Book fairs and agricultural fairs add cultural dimension.

However, improvements are needed. Some play equipment shows age, raising safety concerns. Litter after events can be problematic. Some areas lack adequate lighting at night.

Still, this park serves as a true urban oasis, evolving with time while honoring its history.
