Google Review for UME Sushi & Omakase
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had an incredible Lunch experience at UME Sushi & Omakase in An Phú, Thủ Đức. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect stage for a truly authentic Japanese omakase experience.
The dishes were beautifully presented, and each course was crafted with precision and high-quality ingredients. The sashimi platter was fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. The omakase sushi selection was exceptional, with unique combinations like eel topped with uni and delicately seared white fish with caviar. The warm dishes, including the flavorful miso soup with salmon and the tender wagyu steak with seasonal vegetables, showcased the chef’s mastery of balancing flavors.
One of my favorites was the chilled somen noodles with crispy shrimp—light yet incredibly satisfying. The grilled fish dish was also a highlight, with a rich umami broth that complemented the tender fish perfectly.
Beyond the food, the service was outstanding. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, making sure each course was perfectly timed and explained.
If you’re a sushi lover or looking for an elegant Japanese dining experience in Saigon, UME Sushi & Omakase is a must-visit! The quality, creativity, and overall experience make it well worth the visit.

Requested for omakase counter seats but was asked to put a 900k deposit. But when we didn't confirm, they proposed we come on time and we did. ( Frankly, I would have simply chosen another restaurant for omakase had they not replied.)
There were limited number of seats in front of the chef, however some corner seats weren't ideal as they face the display panel of sashimi or the sink. Given the beautiful deco of the restaurant, more thought should have been put into the design of the omakase counter if they advertised it.
The omakase set was prettily presented, but not as exciting as I hoped. The chef speciality turned out to be overcooked salmon and there was a dish of mediocre shrimp rice and boring piece of brownie. Saving grace were the stuffed chicken, shishamo and some unexpected extra dishes that was not printed on the menu.
So the verdict is don't expect much from omasake unless you choose the highest range, maybe 🤷. Better off ordering ala carte, I suppose.
That said, I am impressed that there are many people visiting the restaurant on a weekday evening, some to celebrate...
Read moreThis restaurant had very good food and the place made me feel like i was in Japan but the service sucks. Every 10 minutes or so, I asked them: “is the food ready?” And they said: “ Wait, it’s nearly done.” And after about 40 minutes, the food didn’t come so and i was so hungry i told the manager to come. I said: “i asked you about 4 times was my food ready and you guys kept saying nearly but it never came” so they said sorry and brought the food up. And they said: “all the food you ordered has been brought up, sir.” But the STILL forgot my “Wagyu beef and grilled ell rice” but since the food was so good i decided not to tell them about my...
