CHẠN – A Beautiful Hue Restaurant Serving Authentic Cơm Niêu and Local Dishes
CHẠN, located at 01 Nguyễn Thái Học, Huế, is a truly special place for anyone wanting to experience traditional Huế cuisine in a charming, elegant setting.
From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the beautiful architecture — a mix of old-world charm and peaceful atmosphere. The arched doorways, greenery, and quiet courtyard create the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and memorable meal.
The highlight, of course, is the food. Cơm niêu (clay pot rice) was perfectly cooked — warm, crispy, and flavorful — and the local Huế dishes were authentic, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen puts great care into each dish.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable with their warm hospitality.
If you're visiting Huế and want a real taste of local flavors in a cozy, elegant space, I highly recommend CHẠN. It’s more than just a restaurant — it’s a cultural...
Read moreVery busy family style restaurant. We were staying at Melia Vin Pearl hotel and some lady from the spa recommended this place. The menu was extensive and I would recommend studying it before arriving as the servers do rush you and seemed a bit impatient with us when we were looking at the menu and deciding what dishes to choose.
Food was delicious and came out quickly. The chicken salad, fish soup and stir fried morning glory were super tasty. The food wasn’t however as plentiful as we assumed so we actually were left still wanting more. The caramel fish had one small piece in it which if ordered as a main meal for one would have left you wanting more. Ordered for four people to share, we all had one mini piece each and treated as a taster.
We would have ordered more food but the servers seemed to be rushing people out to turn the tables around instead of offering if we wanted something else. We would have definitely ordered more if...
Read moreThis was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had. The food was not cooked properly some dishes came out raw or underdone, and the taste was completely wrong. The restaurant claims to serve Huế dishes, but none of them were authentic or true to the flavors of Huế cuisine. The caramel fish was drowning in oil, making it heavy and unpleasant to eat. The vegetables that were supposed to be steamed were barely cooked, still hard and raw. Overall, the quality of the cooking felt careless and rushed. On top of the poor food, the service was unfriendly and unhelpful. Instead of making customers feel welcome, the staff seemed dismissive, which only added to the bad experience. For a restaurant that promotes itself with regional specialties, this was a huge letdown. I would not recommend this place at all the food, the taste, and the service all failed to meet even basic...
