Excellent food.
The garlic naan is fantastic, as are the butter chicken, all the samosas, and the veggie pakora. That’s our go to meal to share pretty much every time. I know, I know, why get butter chicken every time when there are so many delicious Indian dishes…we have tried a few other dishes at Shiva, but this is our go-to order because it’s just fantastic - really tender chicken and flavorful sauce.
Ah, just a heads up the “spicy” here is knock your socks off heat, so we usually go for “medium spice”…and I like spice a lot.
We always sit outside as we bring our pup with us, but the dining room is nice and cool. If you’re sightseeing all day the a/c is very welcome.
Only issue is that I wish it were easier to order takeout, as you have to go to the restaurant and order if you don’t have the manager’s number on hand. Hope they add their restaurant to grab or set up a Facebook messenger account for takeout orders soon.
All in all, I highly recommend Shiva — we go often...
Read moreI arrived at the restaurant at about 5:00. I had asked that they prepare a chicken vindaloo and have it ready at 5:20. I did not want it ready any earlier as I was picking up rice elsewhere and it would be ready just shortly after 5:20. So they bring out my meal at 5:10. Was I not clear enough? I asked 2 or 3 time for 5:20. Sigh.. they ask for 50,000 Dong for the cheapest rice option. This is expensive here, so I had it made elsewhere. Other East Indian restaurants offer a cheap Vietnamese rice option for 25,000 - 30,000 Dong. The chicken vindaloo was good with a large portion. Plate and utensils were provided. I’d order again, but closer to the time...
Read moreI've just had the worst Malai Kofta in my life. The "cheese-balls" were hard like stones, tasted like nothing, and the sauce was not good. We also ordered two Naans with Garlic and Cheese. They came with kilos of coriander on it! When we told the waitress we cannot eat it like this, she told us we haven't told her not to. Sorry? Naan with coriander? The menu hadn't told me about this evil stuff on my naan. She told us to order a new one and pay for all. In an Indian restaurant I expected some kind of service. Even in Vietnam. I am kind of depressed of the fact, that I can get better Indian cuisine...
