The food is authentic, very good, and reasonably priced, that the atmosphere is "homey," and that Mrs Tuan shows a great skill in local foods. We had never known that she can make some western dishes, I didnt try them then have no idea. I didnt want to eat meat, but goat meat dishes is supposed kinda local speciality of Ninh Binh with goats were raised on limestone without antibiotics and hormones, then we put on adventure face and ordered Dê nướng áp chảo. The taste is quite good depending on how it is cooked, it was seasoned with onions, some herbs and served with roasted sesame on the top. We rolled goat meat as well as a piece of pineapple and green vegetables by a small piece of rice paper. It turned out quite good with taste but tough. Haha. Fried rice was very good with fresh vegetables, tofu with tomato was excellent as well. Besides, the food were served with the dishes were very full... Im pretty good at cooking then I know all her ingredient were fresh. Ok, I pretty much like all food Mrs Tuan makes. To me, as a vietnamese, she seems kind, warm as well as honest, good attitude 's good point to me and will make me come back again. Thank you Mrs Tuan. See you next time. It's...

As reply to some of the negative reviews. Nothing wrong with sharing your opinion if you didn’t enjoy a place. But from my perspective some of the comments on the reviews of this restaurant aren’t quite justified.
There’s a review complaining about them almost missing their bus due to the restaurant. There are only two people in the kitchen you can’t expect the food to come out in 10 minutes. She makes the food fresh.
There’s another pointing out lack of aircon. But as you walk in you can see that there is no aircon. The restaurant doesn’t have a traditional front door it’s all open. So, why stay if aircon is what you wanted.
Someone also stated that the duck was too chewy. Vietnamese generally enjoy chicken and duck more chewy. And this is a Vietnamese restaurant so you should cater for their tastes and not the other way around, it you’ve chosen a Vietnamese restaurant.
That’s just my two cents. Go an experience for yourself. I had spring rolls, fried chicken and goat skewers. All...
Read moreFood was tasty, free rice and banana for dessert. Food takes some time to be served, as there are only 2 ladies at the place. An older woman and a younger woman (maybe daughter-in-law?) With a baby strapped to her back. The vegetable with fried tofu was nice. The grilled fish seasoning and dip was nice, but the type of fish used was not good. The type of fish was like 'song fish' with many, many tiny, fine bones. The place also sells bus bookings and I think their prices are good, better than what the homestay I was staying at quoted. Anyway, those reviews about the long wait for food are probably true, as there are just 2 ladies working very hard to run this restaurant. If you aren't in a hurry, the food tastes good. Do not order the duck. I was told that it is half a duck, but we got less than that. I have ordered many, many half and whole roast ducks in Singapore to know what half a duck portion should be. Anyway, the roast ducks in Singapore are much better. Don't bother trying the roast duck in Tam Coc. Grilled goat is a much...
