I love good bbq’d Vietnamese seafood, but this was not delicious. The slipper lobster with pho mai was covered in a sweet yellow cheese product sauce - not actually cheese. The fried squid was heavily breaded with panko and was fried too crispy making it hard to eat. I would have preferred a lighter coating or batter to let the seafood shine. The grilled scallops were pretty oily from their scallion oil. The red kumquat garlic sauce was a really great dip though. With many other options in Phu Quoc, I won’t be back for the food. But if you’re here because your hotel is nearby or you’re exploring this food hall/market, why not then.
Also, I just realized that they forgot my shrimp with garlic butter. The server (short haired girl) was not very good as she was extremely reluctant to allow me to ask questions or take my time with the menu but the other employees were great. If I were the owner, I would speak to the server and to the cooks, perhaps even tasting your own food.
Update to the owner's remarks: I definitely ordered from your menu and your restaurant as it was the only one I dined at - it's the very last stall on the left side. I know the lobster was fresh but the preparation and ingredients...
Read moreHow is this place rated so highly? ABYSMAL service. Totally unreasonable wait times and frustration along the whole way with totally incompetent staff.
We were recommended this place. On day-1, it was poor service with a super long wait (over an hour), and on top of that they delivered wrong orders along the whole way. They gave us some mangoes as a “sorry” to placate us which we thought was endearing.
And so we decided to give it a try again since it was recommended, and on day-2 the SAME EXACT THING happened again but worse. Several wrong orders delivered, over an hour long wait. And I write this review as we sit here waiting for something ordered over an hour and 20 minutes ago.
The food is actually decent if and when you actually ever get what you ordered, but seriously — do yourselves a favor and just find somewhere else.
While I appreciate PQ is still developing, the long wait and the frustrations you deal with along the way at this place make the food totally...
Read moreThis place is a little gem. After a less than desirable experience at the other main night market, I'm glad to have found this place which was so close to our hotel which is a bonus. The food was fresh and tasty. We ate here twice. Got 1kg prawns cooked 2 ways, BBQ and with a buttery sauce. Skater clams, squid. They threw in some veggies for free. I will be back next time to try their lobster which looked massive and alive in very clean fish tanks. I would also recommend the mango from the store next to it, delicious! I'd like to thank 'Seven' who served us, she's amazing and friendly. At the end of our meal she asked another staff member to take us back to our hotel in their Bong BBQ shuttle buggy which they provide for free if your staying within 4km of the area. Thank you for...
