Hotel Review – Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Category: 4 stars Price: ~€150–160 for 4 nights Location: Second line from the beach, tourist zone, Phu Quoc Island
⸻
Pros: • Spacious room • Large, comfortable bed • Clean bed linen • Private balcony with outdoor furniture • Complimentary bottled water (refilled daily) • Air conditioning in the room works well • TV, fridge, basic amenities included • Overall, affordable for a hotel of this level
⸻
Cons:
Room and building condition: • Carpet was very dirty, visibly stained and not maintained • Wallpaper peeling off due to humidity, especially in corners and behind curtains • Multiple cracks along the walls and ceiling, poor finishing visible • Shower leaks badly, water spreads across the entire bathroom • In corridors: wall panels swollen from moisture, damaged ceiling • Several fixtures were either broken or worn out
Hotel exterior and grounds: • Lawns are overgrown, bushes are untrimmed • Surrounding area looks neglected, with abandoned buildings nearby
Facilities: • Air conditioning only works inside the rooms • The lobby is massive, but hot, humid, and has no A/C or even a bar • It feels completely empty and useless despite the size • Poor soundproofing — noise from neighboring rooms is clearly audible
Breakfast: • Served in a non-air-conditioned room — very hot and humid • Food is strictly Vietnamese-style: noodles, rice, broths • No Western or international breakfast options available • If you’re not used to local cuisine, you’ll struggle to find something suitable
Service and communication: • Staff speaks very limited English — even basic questions can be difficult to communicate • Hotel refused to provide an invoice, saying to request it through Booking.com, which is not standard practice

Overall impression:
This hotel advertises itself as a 4-star property, but in reality it barely meets the standards of a 3-star, and even that’s generous.
The room is large, and the price is reasonable — but the condition of the facilities, poor maintenance, lack of air conditioning in common areas, and overall neglect make the stay uncomfortable.
Unless you’re very flexible, not sensitive to heat, and have no expectations of Western service standards — this place is not recommended for more than...
Read moreWe recently stayed at what was advertised as a 4-star hotel, but unfortunately, our experience was far from the high standard we anticipated. The hotel did not meet the expectations set by its online presence, and we would not recommend it to others based on the issues we encountered. We booked our stay after seeing vibrant images of busy pool bars, karaoke rooms, and tennis courts, but upon arrival, it quickly became clear that the reality was quite different. None of the bars were open during our stay. We had to order food and drinks from a restaurant located on the second floor. The tennis courts, which were a major selling point for us, were closed for the duration of our stay, despite being prominently featured in the hotel's promotional materials. Additionally, the karaoke rooms were out of service, labeled as "under maintenance," and unavailable throughout our time there. We also found the hotel itself to be lacking in basic amenities. The reception area was uncomfortably warm, with no air conditioning, which made checking in and waiting for assistance quite unpleasant. The hotel also appeared to be in need of thorough cleaning, as it was not as well-maintained as we had expected from a 4-star establishment. Our overall stay was so disappointing that we decided to leave the hotel and spend our time at nearby beach clubs instead of relaxing by the pool as we had planned. We raised these concerns with both the reception manager and the hotel manager, but unfortunately, our feedback was met with a lack of understanding. After waiting one hour to speak with a manager, the only response we received was that they would "review the images online"—a response that did not address our concerns or offer any tangible resolution. Given the discrepancies between the hotel's online portrayal and the actual experience, we feel this hotel falls short of its 4-star rating. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure future guests are not similarly...
Read moreThe worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. We booked five nights but left after only two because the conditions were absolutely unacceptable. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Here’s why: Life-threatening design: We were traveling with our 2.5-year-old child, and the balcony railing had a wide gap through which a small child could easily fall to their death. This is an unbelievable safety hazard! Hygiene standards below zero: The hotel was disgustingly dirty, with unkempt rooms and furniture in a state of decay. There is absolutely no way this hotel deserves a four-star rating. Neglected facilities: Mold was visible everywhere, and many items were broken. The buildings looked as if they hadn’t been maintained for years. No housekeeping service: During our two-night stay, no one came to clean the room. We ran out of toilet paper and had no fresh towels or supplies. Completely unacceptable. Horrible customer service: After deciding to leave the hotel early, we asked for a refund for the remaining three nights. This was denied, which we reluctantly accepted. However, the final insult came when, during checkout, we were asked to pay for two cup noodles we had eaten in the room. Despite the disastrous circumstances, the hotel manager showed no willingness to accommodate us and insisted on charging us for the noodles. Unbelievable! Room service failure: At 8 PM, we tried to order food as we were told that room service was available until 10 PM. However, we were informed over the phone that the kitchen was already closed.
In summary: Even giving this hotel one star feels generous. It’s unsafe, unhygienic, and offers appalling customer service. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place...
