Blue Monkey Bar — Restaurant in Phú Quốc

We were looking for some good live music while on vacation and this place came up as an option when I did a search. It looks to be a foreign owned operation with a very attentive owner and staff. Our group of seven was seated quickly even though some tables and chairs needed to be gathered for us. The beers were cold, and the place looked clean. It was not the scene we were looking for because the music was coming from a laptop computer backing track with a guitar player and two ladies singing. We were out of there after one beer because the music made us feel like we were listening to Karaoke. We don't really like karaoke; we like live music, so it just wasn't for us. This bar is one of the best places on the Island. Especially if you're from Europe countries, and mainly Slovakia and Czech Republic. If you are from these two countries, there is a high chance you ll bump into your countrymen. The owner is a great guy and probably the only person with slivovica on the Island :D. We were there three nights in a row because we could not get enough of it! If you re looking for fun night with great cocktails, live music, and reasonable prices, i do recommend this place more than any other on Phu Quoc. The concept of live music on the touristy main drag of phu quoc was too good to pass up. We checked reviews which promised a good burger, at least. The burger, which came with 10 fries, was inedible, and I’ve never seen my friend walk away from food. When grease dripped all over his hands, the OWNER brought him a mostly used roll of toilet paper, claiming it was new. Disgusting. The cute trio singing songs live were so sweet and I truly hope for all of them to find new and better-paid uses for their talents. Don’t waste your time or believe the five star reviews which were obviously written by the owner’s friends. He doesn’t care...
