House No. 1 — Restaurant in Phú Quốc

An is possibly one of the coolest people on the island and i wish I'd been able to chat and hang out here more. Also wanted to give the open mic a go (looks like a great setup) but our stay on Phu Quoc was pretty short. We actually spent our few hours here upstairs on the roof (cant find a separate listing for the place or remember what the bar is called) with Stephen, who i think operates the upstairs bit. He is wonderful to talk to and facilitates an ultra relaxed and friendly vibe up there overlooking the nightly hustle and bustle in the market. Try the place. Talk to people....

As its name implies, this is indeed House No. 1. During my short stay in Dương Đông, I was so lucky to find this awesome bar just mere steps from my homestay.

Even though I was a solo traveller, I was shown tremendous hospitality by the owner/manager of the bar and his friends. We sang songs and danced for hours, and the memory still brings a huge grin to my face.

If you're looking for yummy drinks (try the negroni if you like 'em strong), great music, and good people, you MUST come to House No. 1...it will be my first stop when I come back...

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I came on my own but never felt alone. Quynh was amazing and immediately made me feel at home. It is in a perfect location in the night market and so it is easy to head to the beaches in the north or south whilst you have shops and restaurants nearby. The room was immaculate, comfortable and well designed. If you want to sleep really early, be warned, it is a karaoke bar. But that is half the fun! And it doesn't go...
