Zanotto’s Sunnyvale Market

The staff at the Sunnyvale store is very unfriendly. I've had 3 instances now where the staff has behaved very rudely towards me for no valid reason. I've also witnessed them treat other customers with a lack of respect on numerous occasions. At first I thought it was just a bad hire or maybe the staff person was just having a bad day. But it has now become a clear pattern and is not specific to just one or two people. I guess management doesn't care that their staff is causing a hostile environment for customers? The latest incident was at the check out stand on 3/4/24 where the cashier named Lisa very rudely chastised me for not asking for a bag when she was processing my purchase. She yelled at me very loudly for reaching for a plastic bag when I didn't pay for it. I didn't realize she didn't charge me for it. I then said "sorry, I didn't know I didn't pay for it" and I waited to pay for it and she got even more annoyed and dismissed me by waving her hand up high and motioning with her hand to shoe me away while she loudly yelled that I need to pay more attention next time. The time before that, the person at the deli told me that I could not order a sandwich that had two meats in it. When I explained that I ordered it that way for years and understood the price would be for two meats, the lady got very rude and yelled that they didn't prepare sandwiches that way. It's sad when an establishment that depends on their customers for business does not respect them enough to treat them with a friendly and respectful manner. Why all the hostility...

This is why I switched over to shopping at Zanotto's. Last week I started my usual unthinking routine headed to Safeway seeking fresh herbs and turnips and rutabaga. After visiting three different Safeway stores and finding only old turnips and rutabaga, and sad moldy herbs, I thought to try Zanotto’s. I found the produce section at Zanotto’s to be incredibly fresh, super high quality, and amazing selection. I even found fresh chives and fresh Savory herbs which no other local grocery store carries. Amazing! And their turnips and rutabaga are absolutely fresh and perfect. They also have impeccable curated selection in so many categories such as Italian pasta, or cheese, etc.

I realized I'm saving money by going to Zanotto’s because the alternative (other grocery stores) just wastes so much of my personal time trying (and failing) to find these fresh produce items at Safeway or...

I've been a regular customer at Zanotto's in Sunnyvale, since they opened in 2015. This store is very clean, neat and well organized. All the employees are very efficient, conscientious and friendly. The produce department is outstanding and very attractive. There is always an employee in this department working and arranging the fruit and vegetables. The meat department is first-class. The choices and quality of their meat is the best in this area. I also love that they sell the famous Gizdich pies!

I also want to thank Zanotto's for the way they responded to the pandemic. They were the only grocery store in the area I felt comfortable in knowing they took all the precautions necessary to make the store safe and to protect the customers.
