Super nice view point over the whole village must go there there is a stairs next to the irish pub. So if the pub in front of you look to the left there is a street you walk few steps then on the right there is entrance with a hotel sign you can enter from there to the top it is public. We made a video about the whole city on youtube (Maykel and Maaike)✌️ enjoy… don’t forget to take a closer look of the roof of the house on the left it is made of stones and that’s is why the village called the stone village

Free to view. A bit difficult to find as Google maps has it wrong. Just ask one of the waiters at one of the bars and they will point you to the entrance which is through an arched doorway and up concrete steps. The obelisk is called the Motherland ABC and was erected as a symbol for education in Albania and to celebrate the Albanian language. There are great views from the obelisk and it is especially nice at sunset.

Giant obelisk which is accesible on a needs to know basis. Yes, one of those. Yellow framed door opposite 4rooms hotel, theres a sign saying obelisk with steps. Climb up and theres an old school which is no longer open for exhibition. Free. Panoramic views. Can see the castle too

Really nice view at sunset. Worth a visit. Hard to find. I’ve posted photo of entrance (as at least one other person has). There are switches to turn obelisk lights on - just to right of pot plant on right of steps (the tour guide turned them off when he left)

Gjirokaster Obelisk is located on high ground near the first Albanian school to be open in town in 1908 and is a symbol of education. It is right next to the Old Bazaar location. The area is free and offers magnificent views of the city.

Very good view up here, was almost a little tricky to find as you almost have to go into a shop front to access the steps to get to it. But, once you’ve found that part it all makes sense.

Gjirokastër Obelisk or Mëmëdheu ABC is an obelisk monument in Gjirokastër, Albania. The obelisk is located near the first Albanian school to be opened in the town in 1908 and is a symbol for education in Albania. The authors of the obelisk are Muntaz Dhrami, Ksenofon Kostaqi, Stefan Papamihali.
