Who was General San Martín?

José Francisco de San Martín y Matorras (1778–1850), known simply as José de San Martín (or "the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru") was an Argentine general who led the successful struggle against the Spanish Empire. He was born in Yapeyú, Corrientes, in modern-day Argentina, and studied in Málaga, Spain.

Fantastic park right in the city center overlooking the area towards the Rio de la Plata, Retiro, Torre de los Ingleses (some sort of give away from England to some of their best customers then). All in all a very beautiful and very typical design by Carlos Thays with lots of ornaments, monuments, emblematic vistas.
