this savers used to be one of my favourite op shops in adelaide. i have been shopping here for many years with my dad, but recently went through a negative experience that has made me rethink shopping at this store. i came here in the afternoon with friends and shopped around the store for around an hour and a half. near the end of our trip, we were approached by a member of staff asking if we had a clothing item we had no idea about. we were then falsely accused of tearing tags off clothing items and trying to steal, which was a ridiculous claim as all of our clothing items had tags on them, and they had found over 50+ tags in one of the change rooms. i should mention that i was accused of ripping off tags in the change rooms when i had never even gone into any change room. as we tried to check out with our items, the staff then accused my friend of stealing a coat that she had been wearing as she walked into the store. even after i had showed proof of her purchasing the coat elsewhere, they did not believe us. i offered for the staff to look through my bag (which had no stolen items in it) but the staff member interrogating us barely even checked my belongings. even after showing all the proof we could that we didn’t steal, he refused to serve us and did not allow us to purchase our items, believing we still stole and ripped off tags due to “reasonable suspicion”. we were kicked out of the store and threatened to be banned statewide if “this happened again”. if what happened again? we didn’t steal anything. this experience was extremely humiliating and hurtful, and as someone with years of customer service experience this could have been handled in a much better way. i’d suggest that staff should keep track of who goes in and out of the change rooms + how many items customers bring in the change rooms to prevent theft and tag removal, as it was clear that many customers before us had been ripping off tags in the same change room my friend had been...
Read morejust got accused of stealing a jacket that I'd never seen before after showing all my bags and an empty trolley and trying to buy items that HAD TAGS guy at the register pulled out a pile of tags that people had ripped off clothes and apparently hidden in the changing rooms and he blamed us, but there were so many tags there it was impossible for it to even have been us, especially as we didn't take much stuff in there and all of it had tags when we came out wouldn't have been as bad if the guy showed even a little bit of basic decency but he was extremely rude and accusatory the entire time and made my friend cry because we hadn't done anything he then refused to serve us because we apparently were trying to steal, and threatened to ban us from all savers stores if we were "caught again". again, we did nothing wrong 😐 savers please train your staff in basic customer service so this doesn't happen again. you are not supposed to accuse your customers of stealing, even if you think they are! you just watch them and if you do talk to them about it you BLAME THE SYSTEM NOT THEM!!! (I literally just did customer service training last week for my new job and the way the savers employees treated us was disgusting) you've lost 3 more...
Read moreThis place used to be a go to place for good, quality, bargain priced items, alongside friendly assistance from staff. Unfortunately, it's no longer the same. :(
Whoever's jacking up the price must have forgotten they're an op-shop with an inventory of donated, second-hand, and unwanted items. Items are dirty, clothing items and toys are disgusting. Best example was a blouse smelling like rotten onions and what a traumatic experience to see an old safety pin poking inside it. Gave it to a staff as it was clearly a health and safety issue.
We as a community also have the responsibility to follow Saver's guidelines on what to and NOT to donate. It's not a place to dump a load of stinking dirty clothing reeking of rotten, decomposing onions. Additionally, the chaos in the fitting area where courtesy and respect are non-existent. Some so-called social media "content creators" or wannabe fashionistas fitting heaps clothes but only taking one item or most of the time,...
