This was our Christmas 2020 Ballina trip hotel where we stayed. The hotel was in a great location bang in the city, walking distance from restaurants, pubs and shops, bang opposite the Ballina RSL. The hotel from the outside and inside looked very heritage and built with the same theme. The rooms were decent size, not big but not cramped. The bathrooms were very very clean and overall the whole place had a great feel. There was a small pool to keep the kids busy and good underground parking spaces provided for each room. The room had basic facilities, microwave, tea coffee maker, toaster, cutlery and ironing facilities. The only thing which was a major letdown was the internet connection. We were in the back building last room (#25), the wifi was non-existent. On today’s world, with my family, it’s a cardinal sin! Having being on the road for 7 days already and using up almost 80% of my 40 GB mobile data, my family was extremely frustrated with no internet strength at our room. We asked the reception and they tried rebooting the router, but no solution to the problem. And Christmas meant the city was virtually shutdown with nothing to do. So that pushed us to change the hotel and book ourselves in the Ramada to salvage the Christmas trip. So even though the hotel and room was good enough, the wifi just let us down. And maybe not having a balcony added to the...
Read moreWhere to begin. Firstly looks like my grandmother decorated. Power kept coming on and off. One side of the room had power but not the otherside. Then no power at all. Was woken around 1:30 am when power came back on and the TV was blaring & lights back on. Morning time, had power for about 15 minutes then off again. No cup of tea, no charging of phone, couldn't do my hair or iron my uniform. I left a note about my poor experience. They had the hide to suggest I didn't put my key in the power slot. I travel professionally for work all the time. To top it off I realised I left a very expensive hair straightener in the room. Of course it couldn't be found and I was left a message that it must be amongst "my STUFF!" Im a business person who lived in Ballina for years. I travel all the time and I have a very carefully packed travel bag that I do not refer to as stuff. I know clearly where my hair straightner was left on the sink and my partner remembers it too! But that's ok. Ill just be sure to pass on my experience to all my professional travel partners. And no, I...
Read moreInitial impression was one of surprise and disappointment considering the $224 fee for a King Room. The room decor is dated and could certainly do with a make-over. The A/C is old and rattled and vibrated all night and barely cooled the room, which made for a restless evening due to the noise; to top it off, neighbors in the adjoining room were easily heard as there appears to be little insulation. Cleanliness was found wanting as there were cobwebs between the wall and cupboard and sadly, fecal matter and pubic hair were found on the toilet seat; the toilet cleanliness was remediated by management with the provision of cleaning material. The toaster, cups and water jug were stored in the bathroom, which could be construed as concerning considering the poor hygiene level of the bathroom. The shower/bathroom is somewhat cramped and although conveniently located in the heart of town, the high cost does not reflect value; I recommend you...
