NRMA Insurance — Attraction in Ballina

Terrible experience last night, two young female tourists stranded on the Ewingsdale off ramp to Byron Bay. Holiday traffic backing up behind them so I pulled over and helped them get the car off the road. I then helped them to arrange a tow truck through NRMA. The operator first tried to upsell them a more expensive package, I told them to just take the basic, then once they had paid $340.00 the operator then asked them to chose a mechanic to go to. How is a tourist supposed to know where a local mechanic is? I told the operator to just get a tow truck here and then the driver would know a place to help. Very disappointing service yesterday by the lady with blonde curly longish hair. I went into pay my CTP on one of my cars & asked for a quote for comprehensive on the other which I also have CTP on through NRMA. I was told she had to ring head office to see if they do imports & I should go to Shannon’s. First of all my car has a policy through you already so there was no need for that. I called the call centre when I got home explained what happened and was told this lady was wrong and should have done more not send me elsewhere when I already hold a policy on the car through NRMA.
