Health hazard !!! When collecting our order a lady with raw chicken on her hands came out of prepping food and proceeded to touch all over the take away bags and containers to check they were for us.. could literally see pieces of raw chicken on her hands! Too shocked to address it in the shop.. left the store and had to take all the containers and sanitise the outside. It’s late at night my family were starving. Probably going to get salmonella poisoning. When we called they were so casual about it and didn’t seem shocked at all.. they couldn’t even confidently say that doesn’t happen regularly. Honestly this place should be audited by the food safety inspectors! Also shit satay sticks over priced and only got two instead of four.. replaced with spring roles we can’t even eat because we have allergies. Argh waste of my money and time. Yuck.

If I could give 6 I would have. Even with the table on the footpath. Zero atmosphere but the food and the service eclipse this easily. The best Tom Yum soup with prawns I've ever eaten. Juicy succulent king prawns, and to die for fresh tomatoes and veggies in a superb broth. The coconut rice exceptional. Yes. The Prawn spring rolls have a whole prawn wrapped with some fresh carrot and veggies. The chicken skewers tasty with an exceptional peanut sauce. The pork pad prick with stems of peppercorns.....sensational. The chicken stir fry with peanut sauce was delicious. The service was exemplary and the prices cheap for the absolute quality of the food. Fast, authentic and the best Thai I've had in Australia.

I had the Seafood Pad Ginger and it was absolutely delicious packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. Also tried their Thai boat noodles, Thai fried rice, and clear soups with vegetables all so tasty and satisfying. The soups, in particular, were amazing, light, fresh, and bursting with flavour. Really enjoyed everything! I only wish this Thai shop was in my area in Sydney – locals in Ballina are so lucky to have them!

If you're looking for a taste of authentic Thai cuisine in Ballina, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better place in town. The food here is reminiscent of a street-side eatery in Bangkok, brimming with vibrant flavours and fresh ingredients.

The menu boasts a wide variety of Thai favourites, each dish reflecting the rich culinary tradition of Thailand. The balance of sweet, sour, spicy, and savoury in their dishes is masterful, transporting you straight to the heart of Thailand with each bite.

What sets 85 Thai apart even more is the excellent service provided by their staff. The ladies serving are always sporting a warm, welcoming smile and they go the extra mile to ensure your dining experience is as pleasant as possible. The service is fast, efficient, and always comes with a personal touch that makes you feel right at home.

The ambiance of the place complements the food and service beautifully. It's clean, cosy, and imbued with a touch of Thai charm that completes the authentic dining experience.

In short, 85 Thai offers a truly wonderful Thai dining experience. The combination of fantastic food, excellent service, and warm ambiance earns it a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. If you're in Ballina and craving Thai, look no further than 85 Thai. You won't be...

Last night in Ballina, we had our final dinner - and out of the three Thai restaurants we've tried in the area, this one was hands-down the best. No joke.

We were warmly welcomed by the mum, handed menus by the young son who also served us water, and had our order taken by their beautiful teenage daughter. We’re guessing their dad was the chef behind the scenes that night - it truly felt like a family affair.

I’m based in Brisbane and have tried some great local spots, but the seafood with fish in cashew nut sauce here was an absolute standout. A total bomb!

We ended the night being farewelled in Thai - "Sawadee khap" - and honestly, I don’t know why, but it felt pretty awesome that they thought I was...
