I love the basin, a local water hole, that you can safely swim in any time of the day low or high tide. Always a lovely experience. Lots of fish in the water to look at whilst snorkelling. I had a snorkel today after doing my exercises in the water. I came here 30 years ago to visit my parents who'd moved here. We bought the babies down for there first water experience at the Basin with their grandparents and I've now been living here for 24 years. Nowhere safer to swim, especially for children and the elderly. You can rinse off at the 2 showers at the top of the ramp that leads down to the beach. It's always busy, especially when we have large tides and on the weekends with families having a swim or a bbq at the park and shelters and there's a playground for the kids. Plenty of...

Beautiful place to visit whether swimming or just looking for a nice view. The lagoon is separated from the rough waves and the depth depends on the tides at the time. Its separation provides a more peaceful swimming experience, and is safer for young kids than the beach itself. It is very pretty and the entire beach is lovely for a picnic, sunbake or still.

There is great amenities including shaded areas with tables and BBQs, a number of toilets, cold beach showers, and a decently sized playground for kids!

Parking is free and it wasn’t too busy when I went there but I imagine it would be more popular in school holidays and...

The Basin is an amazing place - a calm swimming hole due to the rocks protecting it from the ocean waves, with plentiful marine life and lovely clear water in good weather. I love snorkelling in here. It is very accessible - just a very short walk from the carpark. Marine life that I have spotted includes lots of colourful fish, larger grey and white schools of fish, puffer fish, stonefish and small stingrays (don't touch the puffers, stonefish or the rays). I have seen lots of kids and adults in this swimming hole, so it is popular and safe swimming. Marine life is easily seen in the shallows too when you walk in and...

A local swimming hole created by local volcanic rock by south sea islanders. It’s a fantastic place to bring your kids for a cool down in the hotter summer months, and has a large rocky area to explore and discover some wonderful marine animals and sponges and corals etc. has plenty of parking and fresh water showers to Clean off after the day of fun in the sun and the area also has a large undercover table and chair construction to picnic under out of the direct heat of the sun. The playgrounds around here a really well built and the kids seems to love it. Definitely a must say trip visit.
