These markets have a really relaxing atmosphere. The markets open at 10am on most Sundays... not too early, which is what I really like! (I still get my Sunday sleep in!) There are plenty of stalls to look at and plenty of nice food to try. There is no entrance fee and you can usually get a park somewhere close by, although it does normally start to get really busy around 11am. Make sure you bring some cash because a lot of stalls do not accept credit cards or have eftpos. There is an ATM there but I wouldn't always count on it considering its easier just to bring some cash.
These markets are in two great big halls which is great on rainy days. One hall contains a lot of stalls selling clothes, jewelry, leather goods, artwork (pictures/paintings/water fountains/metal sculptures, etc.), record collections and second hand furniture. The other hall contains mostly fruit and vege, meats, cheeses, pastries, various hot foods (at the back of the hall) spirit vendors (e.g. whisky, vodka, gin, rum), juices and plants. There are a few stalls with jewelry and toys around also. Normally there are also buskers at the entrance in this hall which always play good sounding music!
I recommend going for a look and possibly some breakfast and a coffee! Its a great way to spend...

Well, I couldn't believe how few stallholders there were compared to past years. The prices at these markets have always been high, but that's Canberra for you. So I walked around, avoiding the same old, same old stuff. I happened upon one of the weirdest stallholders I've found. This old bloke was selling military literature. His prices were OK, but here comes the kicker. I asked if he had business card. He responded that he did, but not for the the stuff he was selling at the markets? He stated that if I wanted to buy anything off him, I would need to come back at Christmas! I just laughed, as anyone who is turning future business away is an idiot. I explained that I was only visiting Canberra, and had no desire to return in the future. Anyhoo. Are these markets worth visiting? I would say no. The crazy prices, the lack of stallholders and general atmosphere, has really destroyed the once great vibe of these markets. There are better, the locals don't bother with them, so don't...
