My mum and I stayed at the Hotel at the end of September 2022 and I had a disagreement with the front counter staff regarding the PARKING. Please read my review. A disagreement that unbeknown to me, got me BANNED from the Hotel without me even knowing. The hotel didn't have the professionalism or the courtesy to advise me. it wasn't until I made a booking a couple of weeks ago to attend a funeral that my 'confirmed' booking around two hours later was cancelled. This happened twice, and then this is when I realised that something was wrong. I rang the hotel and asked to speak to the Manager. The Manager was not in the office when I called, so I asked the lady on the phone to have her call me when she had a moment. I received a call from Jodina Galimmae who has very recently taken on the role and she was impressive. She is very customer focused and I have no doubt that given time she will implement some excellent changes. After speaking with Jodina she advised that apparently, someone on the front counter had BLACK LISTED my name, but didn't have the courtesy to advise me. This is something you would expect in China with their Social Credit System. I explained the situation to Jodina and she un-blacklisted me.
Sadly, I have once again given a low rating for my review. Why? because of the PARKING. But before I get onto that I just want to say that on our last night in the Sirocco Bar and reception, we were looked after by a young lady called Kate. She was 'simply the best'. What a delightful young lady and someone who should be in the hospitality industry because she is fantastic. The car-park at the Ocean Centre Hotel is full of oversized tradesmen vehicles that go over the 'white line' by at least 3/4 of a meter and there is just so much room for error. Tradesmen should not be allowed to parked in the car-park. This should be for guests only. It's not the tradies fault. It's the Hotel because they continue to allow people doing work at the Hotel to use the limited amount of parking bays, while the paying clients continue to miss out. Anyway, sadly, when I took our luggage down to the car when we were checking out, I found a note under my windscreen from an employee of Apex Midwest (very decent of them) advising that they we sorry but they had backed into my car (hire car this time) and damaged the back of the car. Now, I'm having to deal with the hire car company and they want me to pay $727.27 for the excess although I took out insurance with them. As you can imagine, I'm not happy.
I closing, I'm a Geraldton girl, but sadly Geraldton is not always safe at night. It categorically wrong to expect guests to park...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Ocean Centre Hotel and our experience was wonderful! The staff had been very helpful and accommodating when we had to change rooms and add kids to the mix for an additional night. They responded to emails quickly and were always eager to help accommodate the changes we required. Our room move was very smooth, and the Level 4 Ocean Suite room was to die for with the amazing balcony, views and the room itself. Everything was clean and tidy and very comfortable.
The complimentary drink vouchers were great, even though we ran out of time to use them up! Breakfast offerings were tasty and staff very friendly.
Overall, our experience was amazing and we definitely want to come back again. I feel like that room needs to be my second home now.
There were a few disappointing items:
Bar closing at 9pm was a little disappointing. I am not a great drinker but after we had finished with our afternoon/evening activities (kids were performing in a band tour) we came back to the hotel and the plan was to sit at the Sirocco Bar, play board games and have a few drinks which would have felt more social but the bar closed at 9pm. So, we ended up having to walk to shops to buy our own drinks and spend time in the room instead (which I guess is not a bad thing when the room was that amazing).
No dinner being prepared on site was also disappointing. I would expect a 4-star hotel to provide table service rather than scanning a QR code and receiving take-away containers. The hotel does provide plates and cutlery, but your food actually comes in a takeaway container, and it is just not the same. In-house kitchen and table service would have provided a more decadent experience, matching the experience provided by the room itself.
Same with room service. The same restaurant provides room service and everything arrives in takeaway containers. I have stayed in motels that provide plated food. I would have expected that at least here. Staying in that brilliant room and eating out of cardboard containers felt a little jarring.
Both the bar, dining and room service should have stayed open until 11pm.
Hotel provides parking for guests which is great and you get a private code to access the parking area. What was scary was how tight the parking was!! I can understand due to the location that the space is at a premium but maybe next time I will drive my little car instead of the big one.
Overall, our experience was amazing and we will come back again. We may just plan better next time in terms of food and...
Read moreVery nice. The ladies in reception were very friendly and quick with check in. There was limited parking in the hotel's underground parking but the lady in reception gave us her spot. There is plenty of parking in the street, opposite the hotel and the area seemed quiet and trouble free so parking outside would have been pretty secure, I think, but it was nice to park underneath, behind a security gate and also easier to carry in all of our stuff as it was near the lift and stairs. The room was spacious enough with a nice big bed, which was comfortable. The sheets were nice and clean and the pillows very comfortable. The mini bar had good priced drinks, which is unusual. Usually most hotels charge way above outside prices. There was a Nespresso machine, with pods, which you could ask for more if you were to run out. There was also a kettle and tea bags, etc. In the fridge was a small longlife milk but you could get fresh milk from the bar/restaurant. There is a little walk in robe for your bags, so they aren't in the way and quite a few spaces to place things. There are also a lot of power points and enough lighting, even mood lighting behind the bedhead The shower had constant hot water that didn't fluctuate and had a nice big rainwater shower head. The towels were clean and toiletries were supplied. We had an ocean view room, with a reasonable sized balcony that had a small round table and two chairs. Plenty of room to sit and watch the ocean and activities on the street. Across the road is a beautiful park with play equipment and a water playground. Great for kids. Also plenty of places to eat in the area. The hotel serves breakfast, which was delicious and well priced but they don't do other meals. You can order from The Provincial, through the hotel, and they deliver in take out boxes but the hotel will supply a plate and cutlery if you want to eat in the restaurant area, which has lovely views of the ocean. We were given a complimentary drink voucher when we arrived and it was for a draught beer or glass of house wine. We had breakfast a big breakfast one morning which was $22 and consisted of eggs to your liking, bacon, a sausage, hash brown, fried tomato, mushrooms, beans (not from a can) and a piece of sour dough. It was good quality food, was made quite quickly and tasted delicious. They had a choice of sauces, including HP. All up we would recommend this hotel, even though it is a...
