Piper Lane Cafe while its nice and quaint and somewhat upmarket, for me it lacked a lot of ooomph. I wasn't a fan of the high stools and tables, totally uncomfortable especially if you have a sore back. The ambience wasn't too bad but the decor lacked a certain perzazz. The staff were really nice though and very professional. The menu was not what I was expecting and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. While I admire the upmarket menu not all of us are used to eating dishes we have never even heard of. Its great that you want to introduce Geraldton to a Cafe a bit more upper-class but you need to make the menu a bit more extensive with both traditional and non traditional dishes. I ordered two poached eggs on ciabatta toast because there was nothing else that appealed to me on the breakfast menu. The poached eggs were cooked beautifully however the ciabatta toast was way too thick, hardly toasted and dry. It was hard to cut with a fork and knife as well as chew. I personally prefer my toast buttered. Trying to find somewhere to park that is close to the Cafe is a nightmare. Be prepared to park your car some distance away and walk there. Read moreI went with friends to have a meal we all were disapointed because the food was not cafe quality , also expensive. I bought the chicken salad which was far to dry, no taste so would perhaps like to add a suggestion to the Chef to dress this up to put perhaps pomegranate, & to make a dressing pomegranate juice mix, also a little advocardo chopped on the top when served. I am a Chef & have cooked for over 40 years all over Australia so feel I can offer this honest review & hope the owner of this Cafe will take this review in her stride & change her Menu to make some vegetable salads, also some noodle veg salads that are widely used where I now live in Cairns where there are hundreds of up-market Cafe's. Good Luck...
Read moreDon't like to be negative but if I could give minus 5 I would. 55 minute wait from time of paying till food came out. Waiter seemed to have an issue giving each individual person their plate also just stood there till we got up and took it off them.
Staff were laughing the whole time behind the counter, all for having a good time at work but genuinely felt uncomfortable with them all laughing at what nobody could figure out was funny. That was throughout the time we were in the cafe and bare in mind we waited long enough.
Food was 3/10 bland and very small portions for price.
Save yourself the hassle and go...
