Terrible experience! For $200/night it is totally ridiculous customer service. I would leave a negative review for this hotel if I could. When I booked I asked twice if the reception is attended until 8pm and the receptionist confirmed twice that is the case. I was very surprised to arrive just after 6pm and find another person waiting outside the reception for 20 minutes. He had already called the after hours support and was waiting for someone to come. After another 15 minutes the receptionist came saying she had to assist a guest, but understandably the customer was not happy to wait in the cold after 9 hours drive with his wife and children, so he did say to the receptionist in a raised voice that reception is supposed to be attended, and it isn’t right that he and his family has to wait so long to be checked in. The receptionist became defensive, refused to check them in, threatened to call the police and asked the manager to drive from her house to the hotel, so that the manager checks them in. By the way these customers had stayed in the hotel before too and were respectable people!!
I thought this was very strange behaviour, and calmly asked her to check me in PLEASE, however due to an unfortunate remark I made, saying that I do understand that she is trying to do her best, but she is overreacting I was refused a check in as well. Later when my husband tried to check in he was told that even though I was not abusive in any way I was not to be checked in because I sided with the other customers, and he was refused a check in for siding with me!
I have stayed in every accommodation imaginable from backpackers and Airbnb places to 5 star resorts in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Bali, Singapore, Canada and South Africa, never have I been treated this way.
Also even though the apartment seems clean I am allergic to dust mites and in 15 minutes in the room my eyes are watering and my skin is itching so much that I have to take antihistamine. So if you have dust allergy try somewhere else.
Geraldton needs tourism, but seems Mantra Geraldton does not need tourists. I will never stay here again.
By the way, for those of you who would like risking it to stay here instead of say Waldorf or other nice place - if you don’t book direct with them but go to lastminute or any other booking sites you can get a better deal on your accommodation. My husband saved $20 from their $219 official rate when he booked online. And no breakfast is not included even if...
Read moreDisappointing stay. Room 46. The rooms are not as advertised ie King Superior 2 bed apartment did not have a king in the second bedroom only a double/queen that could not be converted into a twin. We were offered a rollaway but lucky we had children and this wasn't a problem for them to share. Photos on the internet are misleading.
The showers were horrifying. Full of black/pink/orange mould. I had to go to Coles to buy cleaning products to scrub the showers before it was acceptable to use them. The mould mostly all came off. Had to clean both bathrooms thoroughly as at this point, I was fearing for my family's health.
The kitchen was ok but fingermarks all over the stainless steel and fridge. I had to give the kitchen a good clean too before we could use anything. There was only a set of 4 for everything, plates, glasses and all mismatched. Basic cooking utensils provided. Can only do a pasta dish, forget about using the oven as no baking paper provided. Bin liners, detergent, washing powder all insufficient for a family of 4 and a stay of 6 days.
Carpets were filthy and stained, tiled areas sticky and again need a thorough clean. Brown sofa was broken so unpleasant to sit on, light blue sofas were all stained and they smelt. The beds were reasonable I guess but I was worried about laying down on them and had to put something between me and the sheets. The outdoor setting only had 2 seats so had to bring chairs out from the dining table so we could eat on the balcony.
One of the nights we had a very unpleasant experience with a family staying below us, who thought it would be a great idea to abuse illegal substances for the night (I am assuming it was this as I can't figure what else it could have been) so had to put up with yelling, banging and crashing, vile language and general very weird/psychotic musings being yelled out by the male. We had to tell reception and the girl was very lovely to us and spoke to them and she did the best she could.
The location was lovely and central though and the reception staff were lovely. I'm not sure if it we were given an apartment intended for 2 people maybe and probably just bad luck.
I suspect that management and accor hotels are not really invested in fixing things up in these rooms so there is not much that can be done but the cleanliness at least can...

Below are some of the negatives we experienced when we stayed for one night in one of their 2 bedroom "premium apartments":
The lift smelt disgusting, perhaps someone had been sick in there - we used the stairs where possible. The room smelt damp and musty as soon as we walked into the apartment. The cause of the smell in the rooms is due to the fact the water proofing for both showers has failed and water leaks outside of the shower in both bathrooms and pools on both the tiled floor and the carpeted hallway. Due to the leaking shower the bottom of both door frames are rusted badly on both sides and rust stains are also on the carpet. The carpet tiles in the hallway are also buckled up / uneven due to the constant moisture. The plaster on the walls on the opposite side of the showers are cracking / blistering due to the water leaking. The showers look disgusting due to the water damage and the grout failing. There was a hole in the wall in one of the bedrooms The tiles on the balcony have buckled upwards and formed a little speed hump that springs up and down as you walk on it. The blind in the main bedroom looks terrible as it's badly frayed along the edges. Although it wasn't very windy the night we were there, the winds "whistled" through the window frame all night. Someone in one of the others apartments had a party with very loud music until 11pm at night. The music started up again at 5am the next morning.
It certainly wasn't worth the $389 we were charged to stay here for one night in it's current condition.
Instead of management replying to these reviews & feedback with the same stock standard response again and again, how about you actually act on giving these rooms the much needed renovation they require.
The whole place is in desperate need of maintenance and cleaning.
The apartment we stayed in should be taken out of service straight away until it's been...
