After more than an hour waiting in line, you are finally here. At the front of the queue. The attendant calls your name and instructs you to the first row. This is it. The moment to prove to everyone, and yourself, that you can do anything. You’ve seen a million POVs of the ride, but nothing will prepare you for what is about to happen. The train slowly eases onto the lift hill, and you yelp as you are accelerated towards the top, the face of The Joker that looms over the park. Slowly but surely, your train treks towards that face, and probably one of the most thrilling moments of your life.
Now, you’re here. Your friends are watching and waving to you from below, but all you can think about is the drop. Your car slowly suspends from the ride, as the other cars get a brief moment to admire the view before the inevitable. Then, it happens. You are plunged down and a feeling of weightlessness kicks in. You try to scream, but all the air is sucked out of your lungs, as the coaster batters you into submission. Over the next minute, your train “flies” high and falls back to earth, leaving you in a perpetual scream, but as I mentioned before, you can’t. Then, as quick as it began, it is over.
You are left in shock. You have just survived one of the most challenging moments of your life, but in awe at the power of engineering at work here. Movie World, the theme park the ride looms over, markets it as the tallest, fastest and longest ride in the Southern Hemisphere. I’d say it is...
Read moreDC Rivals is no doubt the best coaster in Australia. The operations are kinda cooked, same with the theming, but everything else is world class. First of all, the seats are extremely comfortable to sit in, and the restraints are very snug and comfortable, even when you get stapled. The trains are quite open, which with the exposing restraint amplifies all the great forces this coaster offers. Speaking of forces, DC Rivals has a great variety in them, and they are world class. It has powerful sustained ejector like on the drop, big camelback and ending bunny hills. It also has quicker pops on the turns, which also offers abrupt jolts of laterals. Finally, this coaster has some crushing positives, such as at the bottom of the first drop and when diving back down on the turnaround. Again, all of this is made even better by the extremely freeing restraints and trains. And we haven't even talked about the backwards seats, which you will have to pay for, but my god you must experience it if you are a coaster enthusiast. Experiencing all these powerful forces backwards is soooo unique and I love it. I would give this ride an overall score of 9.5/10, because of the backwards seats. Forwards for me is a 9/10, but backwards is better than a 10/10, so that rounds out to about 9.5/10. Absolutely...
Read moreAs a semi coaster enthusiast, this ride is AMAZING! The first time on this was disappointing (it was in row 6), I then did row 10, and it was better than the first time but still not as good as people hyped it up to be, then I went backwards and OH MY GOD IT WAS CRAZY, I could finally see why people was hyping it up so much! I then did the front row, crazy, but backwards was our favourite. This ride is massive, especially in the the back half of the train, when the drop is unexpected. It really came as a surprise! The airtime is fantastic. The middle was a bit boring due to the trim break on the element after the Non Inverting Loop, but that can be masked by riding backwards, since the turns are more unexpected and more whippier. The airtime hills at the end of the ride tried to pull me into space! It is non stop thrill (apart from the middle section). Overall, I recommend this ride to anyone who is a thrill seeker, and is looking for an adrenaline...
