"Disney in Concert" at Hamer Hall was such a BEAUTIFUL and INCREDIBLE experience!! Everything was absolute PERFECTION! The enthusiastic female conductor, Jessica Gethin and sensational Melbourne Symphony Orchestra setting up this beautiful atmosphere. We truly enjoyed everything about this SPECTACULAR event! 😍

The vocalists: Nick Afoa, Christine Allado, Amy Manford, Ruva Ngwenya and Joshua Robson were simply AMAZING and awe-inspiring!!! They definitely completed the MSO vibe and enthusiasm. Thank you so much for the vocalists kindly staying true to the cultural aspects for each Disney movie/song respectively as well, it made the whole production that much more nostalgic! 🥰 Simply BREATHTAKING!

The Production and Lighting team did such an ASTOUNDING job with each of the songs, you can easily see and feel whether the song was sung by the heroes or villians of the story hehehe while also having the visual aid of the animations on the screen. The Wardrobe Department were MAGNIFICENT! The dresses were absolutely stunning! 🤩 Each of the vocalists' wardrobe designs perfectly complemented each of the songs they sang. I especially remember wondering why during "The Beauty and the Beast" segment, how come Belle's dress was white instead of yellow? But then the yellow spotlight lit up the dress to be the perfect yellow to match Belle's iconic dress while dancing with the Beast. It just comes to show how well the whole event was produced! All the small and simple details were well portrayed to the delight of us audience members.

I must say, the set list for this concert was cleverly thought out as well, with all the different segments. It was very enjoyable for us in the audience guessing each of our favourite Walt Disney songs! ❤️ MSO even played an awesome fight scene from Sleeping Beauty! I loved the different duets too, the harmonies were seriously awesome! I also loved how the vocalists and conductor enthusiastically interacted with each other, plus how the vocalists always acknowledged the MSO members during the whole event.

My favourite Disney movie has always been "The Lion King" 🦁 and I was really impressed and proud of that ending segment. Finally, the event closed with the song "Let it go" from Frozen ❄️☃️ , which I believe portrayed the unification of generations for both young and old. Totally genius! 😎

A massive THANK YOU and special kudos to the the VERY TALENTED Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the AMAZING organisers, MM Creative Productions and Hamer Hall for hosting this...

My recent visit to Hamer Hall in Melbourne's CBD for a Melbourne Symphony Orchestra concert was an experience that left me absolutely stunned and eager to share. This iconic venue, known predominantly for its classical music performances, exceeded all my expectations and has etched a memorable evening in my heart.

From the moment you step inside, Hamer Hall greets you with its breathtaking beauty. The architecture and interior design blend modern aesthetics with classic elegance, creating an atmosphere that's both inviting and awe-inspiring. The attention to detail in the design, combined with the warm and welcoming ambiance, sets the stage for an unforgettable experience even before the performance begins.

The staff at Hamer Hall deserve a special mention for their professionalism and friendliness. From the ushers to the service staff at the bars and snack areas, everyone went above and beyond to ensure the guests had everything they needed. Their efforts significantly enhanced the overall experience, making you feel truly valued and cared for.

Hamer Hall's acoustics are, without a doubt, among the best I've ever experienced. The clarity and richness of the sound during the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's performance were simply sublime, allowing every note to be heard in perfect harmony. It's evident that the hall's design not only takes into account the visual appeal but prioritizes acoustic excellence, ensuring that each performance is heard exactly as intended.

The venue also offers several bars and spots to grab a snack or a drink during the break, which is a thoughtful touch, adding to the convenience and enjoyment of your visit. These areas are well-maintained and staffed by friendly personnel, making the intermission just as enjoyable as the performance itself.

Lastly, the lighting within the building deserves praise. It beautifully complements the architecture and the performances, enhancing the visual experience and adding an extra layer of magic to the evening.

Hamer Hall is a gem in Melbourne's crown, offering a perfect blend of visual beauty, acoustic brilliance, and top-notch hospitality. Whether you're attending a classical music concert or any other event, this venue is highly recommended for an experience that's as grand and memorable as the...

Tim Minchin's concert Full covid-19 Half audience F King brilliant Was dragged by my wife after her bff pulled the plug.

As soon as he came on it was interesting Slightly self defficating but with humour. Some flaws in his thinking but not so much to sway the way you think. More comedy than preaching. Not what I expected. Happily

Now for a concert event A++ Band was on note and timing much better than expected given covid. Was fortunate to be in front row. However at no time were we highlighted Anxiety friendly Great beats and brass sections

Band looked genuinely happy and enjoyed the music and concert.

Tim Minchin's ability to talk fast and sing quicker is already known but I always assumed it was somehow over dubbed. Its not He is crystal clear at roughly 80 words a minute.

Elephant in the room which was addressed.... For us Catholics out there not too bad when it comes to questioning God. There is a song about Sam and his catorattic mother which was funny but highlighted selective miracles. But as he did say prior all religions could be covered. To be perfectly honest I thought he was talking about planet shakers but it was hill song, so in general catholic with a lower case c. I would go again regardless.

Rocking songs Rocking band Surprisingly brilliant front man

If I had to say then it was entertaining on many levels Tim Minchin is an entertainer in a true form. Engaging and...

Went to watch the MSO "The Making of the Orchestra" performance and it was an awesome experience! It might have been perfect if only parents wouldn't take such young children that are not expected not only to endure almost a interrupted hour of any activity, much less full enjoy and perceive what's happening in front of them... To all those families, I would recommend the concerts for babies and toddlers also performed by MSO throughout the year. Other than that, you can't really tell that it lasts for almost an hour! Time does fly when you're having fun! One last tip: I booked the stalls tickets, right beneath upper seats. For the purpose of this performance, it's much better having the upper seats instead, as they allow the children to look down at the Orchestra and really tell which instrument is playing and when.
