First impressions were great. Apartment is new, fresh and the view was beautiful. We also loved how the bedroom can be separated from the living space by a sliding door. Great for families!
Why we gave it a 3 star is because both hand/body soap dispensers in the bathroom and shower were both empty upon arrival. The hand/body lotion was near empty also. I had thought to ring reception however my toddler was fast asleep and the phone was in the bedroom.
The following morning we had left the room for brekky and I forgot to leave the please clean sign outside our door. I rang reception and Declan answered, he was very friendly and mentioned we don’t need the sign up as room cleaning happens anyway and that he would record that our dispensers needed topping up. We got back to the apartment at 3pm only to find the room hadn’t been cleaned and the dispensers were still empty. You could imagine how disappointed we were, especially my mum. This is the first time we’ve stayed at a hotel and cleaning hadn’t been done when we got back!!
I saw a cleaner in the hallway and questioned our room. It wasn’t scheduled on their daily clean as it was considered a “stay” on the list. Whatever that means? They were helpful enough and attended to our needs but the room was still not clean - not the cleaners fault but the hotels I’d have to say.
For a pretty costly hotel I had expected more, especially it being a new hotel as well. The room itself was lovely but I’d expected more for the price especially with customer service and room service.
Sorry but we won’t be coming back or recommending this...
Read moreAdina is relatively new and located at Southbank. What’s great is that it is short 5 min walk to many restaurants along Southbank and a 8 min walk to full size Woolworths at Melbourne Square. I like this area as it’s cleaner and not as dusty.
The apartment itself is of a good size and layout. However the space for shower and wc is really small and would be uncomfortable for a larger size person. The water supply from the shower is slower than other hotels I have stayed in Melbourne, and the hot/cold function is a little tricky. Otherwise they do have a good and powerful hairdryer, washing machine and dryer - and cute little packets of detergent for your use.
When I first checked in, they actually gave me a room that was still uncleaned. But the reception quickly managed to rectify the issue. I would think the biggest issue I had in my stay was housekeeping - they seem really understaffed and always out of towels (one said so much as giving priority to the check-ins). For one day, I actually got pool towel as my bath towel! It is important to check with the front desk what type of house keeping service is available and on request, which I only found out 5 days into my stay. I personally think there is no real value booking a long stay as they don’t really clean up the place when you are there.
There is no proper pick up and drop off point. The street right in front of the hotel City Road is a major road and there are times in the day where the car is unable to stop, so take note when this happens to stop around the...
Read moreBooked a stay at the Adina Apartment Hotel to celebrate a milestone birthday. Had a bit of a hiccup in the week building up to our visit as they had accidentally double booked our family room but they offered us 2 x suites next to each other which was suitable along with free parking. When we arrived the staff were amazing and very accommodating, they even offered us a glass of champagne upon arrival. The rooms were very nice and inviting. Free WiFi, the tv had access to the internet via your phone. Our rooms were near the top of the complex and I suspect this may be why the hot water was a challenge. We had to run the water for quite some time before it even turned hot and even then it didn't stay hot for long. The pool and gym complex on the 7th floor was great but also had its challenges. After lunch we decided to go for a swim and were shocked to see how busy it was when only hours earlier it was very quiet. A lot of kids doing cannonballs and disrespecting the pool rules by running and screaming, and a lot of parents looking the other way. Entering the pool we were greeted with a floating bandaid and a mass of black hair. Needless to say we didn't bother with the pool even though we were looking forward to it. Just a suggestion perhaps, the pool should have a staff member attending during certain hours to ensure the rules are adhered to and maybe giving the pool a good skim after a visit by an abundance of guests. Overall, very happy with our visit and would return...
