Eureka 88 Skydeck - The Southern Hemisphere’s highest observation deck, the city comes to you when you take it all in from nearly 300 metres high. Beautiful view to start a new year. To avoid last moment hustle, book your tickets in advance which is around $28 per person. The best part is timings open daily from 12pm to 10pm. You can plan during sunset as well. Conclude your experience at Bar88 with a delicious array of drinks and snacks🏙 @melbourneskydeck @89_eureka @southbankmelb . . . #melbourne #melbourneskydeck #skydeckmelbourne #eurekaskydeck

For a panoramic bird's eye 360-degree view of Melbourne, head straight to the 88th floor of the Melbourne Skydeck located at Eureka Towers at 7 Riverside Quay, Southbank, Victoria. The Skydeck is the southern hemisphere's highest (297.3 meters) observation deck. We bought a combo ticket at Sea Life (Sea Life, Melbourne + Sky Deck, Melbourne - Adult - AU$ 86 + Child ages 2 -15, AU$ 60). You get spectacular views of Melbourne. Important landmarks include the Yarra River, MCG, and AAMI Park. I liked the Virtual Reality (VR) experience at the Voyager Theatre while seated on the pod chairs; it showcases important landmarks/locations of Melbourne. Ticket cost is AU$ 18. There is a souvenir shop at the top; I bought a beautiful colored 1000 ml. bottle, but it was pricey (AU$ 35). The staff were very friendly, as well as courteous. My family and I would love to visit again for a sunset view, someday soon. “ABOUT EUREKA TOWER Eureka Tower is named after the Eureka Stockade, a rebellion during the Victorian Gold Rush in 1854. The building's gold crown represents the gold rush, the red stripe represents the blood spilt and the blue glass and white stripes all over the building represents the background of the Eureka Stockade flag. QUEEN BEE As you approached us, you would have seen a white box with a colony of giant golden bees inside with the queen bee sitting on the top, complementing the gold crown of the tower. The sculpture is titled 'Queen Bee' and was created by Richard Stringer and the intent of the work was to present architecture and 'city life' a s a colony' The bees are made from anodised aluminium sheets and cast aluminium for all the antennae and small bees legs. The sheets are riveted together using 110,000 anodised rivets. Did you count how many bees there are in total? There is one stray bee on another building, can you find it when you leave?” “FUN FACTS EUREKA TOWER FACTS - The building stands at 297 metres and 92 storeys tall. - Aside from Melbourne Skydeck and Eureka 89, the building is home to 571 residential apartments. - The tower cost over $500 million to build. - There is 52,000 m2 (560,000 sq ft) of windows and 110,000 tonnes of concrete - enough concrete to fill 44 Olympic Swimming pools. - The façade consists of glass and aluminium panel covering an area of 40,000 m2 - this would cover the area of the MCG. - The building weighs 200,000 tonnes which is equivalent to 40,000 elephants. - The top 10 Floors of the Eureka Tower are plated with real 24 carat gold. - It takes 38 seconds to reach level 88, travelling at 9 metres per second. - In heavy winds the building can sway up to 30cm each side. There are two water tanks on levels 90 and 91 pumping water between the two tanks, this counteracts the oscillation of the building when it’s windy. MELBOURNE SKYDECK FACTS We are the southern hemisphere's tallest observation deck. The Edge is the world's only attraction of its kind. A glass cube that extends 3 metres from the building's exterior providing a once-in-a-lifetime perspective. It is built of 45mm thick glass and has a capacity of 10 tonnes.” Voyager Theatre is the world's largest Positron Virtual Reality cinema and the only one in the southern hemisphere. A 6-dimensional immersive experience that must be experienced to be believed.

Melbourne Skydeck offers an unforgettable experience with breathtaking panoramic views of the city and beyond. Located on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower, it is the highest public observation deck in the Southern Hemisphere, making it a must-visit attraction for both tourists and locals.

The Experience

From the moment you step into the high-speed elevator, which takes you to the top in under 40 seconds, you feel the excitement building. As the doors open, you are greeted by floor-to-ceiling glass windows that provide a 360-degree view of Melbourne’s skyline, Port Phillip Bay, the Dandenong Ranges, and even the You Yangs on a clear day. The views are absolutely stunning, especially during sunset when the city lights start to twinkle.

The Edge & VR Plank Experience

One of the highlights is The Edge, a glass cube that extends out from the building, giving you the sensation of floating above the city. It’s a thrilling experience as the frosted glass clears to reveal the sheer drop below your feet. If you’re not afraid of heights, this is a must-try!

Another fun attraction is the VR Plank, which simulates walking on a plank high above Melbourne. The virtual reality experience adds an extra layer of excitement, making it a hit for both kids and adults.

Skydeck Bar & Lounge

For those who want to relax and soak in the views at a leisurely pace, the Skydeck Lounge offers a selection of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and coffee. Sitting by the window with a drink in hand while admiring the cityscape is a truly memorable experience.

Ticketing & Pricing

Ticket prices are reasonable for the experience, and there are package deals if you want to combine The Edge experience with general admission. Booking online in advance can help avoid long queues, especially on weekends.

Staff & Accessibility

The staff are friendly, professional, and always happy to assist. The Skydeck is also wheelchair accessible, making it inclusive for all visitors.

Best Time to Visit

For the best experience, visit during sunset or in the evening when the city lights create a magical atmosphere. However, daytime visits also offer incredible visibility of Melbourne’s landmarks.

Final Thoughts

Melbourne Skydeck is a must-visit attraction that offers a unique perspective of the city. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, the views, interactive experiences, and overall atmosphere make it worth every dollar. Highly...
