I recently visited Riverland Bar with a group of friends on a busy Thursday evening, and the overall experience was fantastic. The place was packed, likely due to the warm weather drawing people outdoors. Riverland operates on a booking system, and I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially if you're visiting with a larger group. Without a booking, it can be challenging to secure a table, given how popular this spot is.
The venue itself is spacious, with plenty of seating and a lively atmosphere. The music was loud and upbeat, which added to the energetic vibe of the evening. It's a great place for socializing and enjoying a vibrant, dynamic setting.
Now onto the highlight of the visit—the food. We ordered several items from the menu, and everything was absolutely delicious. We started with the Beetroot Hummus, which was beautifully presented and paired perfectly with the house-made flatbread. The flavors were fresh and satisfying.
The Disco Bravas were another standout. The crispy fried potatoes came with a flavorful mix of romesco sauce, salsa verde, cheese sauce, and pickles, creating an indulgent and well-balanced dish that everyone enjoyed.
For mains, I opted for the Plant-Based Burger, which was a delight. The patty was perfectly cooked, and the combination of the potato bun, beetroot relish, rocket, and vegan aioli was packed with flavor. It's a great choice for anyone looking for a vegetarian or vegan option.
We also ordered the Funghi Pizza, and it was exceptional. Topped with bechamel, cheese, sautéed mushrooms, rocket, and truffle oil, it was rich, aromatic, and full of earthy flavors. The crust was thin and crispy, just as it should be.
To share, we added a side of Chips with ketchup, and even this simple dish was well-prepared—crispy, golden, and satisfying.
Overall, the food at Riverland Bar exceeded our expectations. Every dish was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. Combined with the lively ambiance and efficient service, it made for a memorable evening. I’d highly recommend this spot, but do remember to book in advance to avoid...

Read moreWhere do I start… I have not been to Melbourne in years, but I was just visiting for a friend’s birthday. I remember Riverland being a super good place. Great location, food, service and everything. Couldn’t wait to try it again. I could not have been more disappointed. I must mention it was the weekend of the Australian Open so the place was packed. But that does not excuse the poor service and quality of the food. First things first, at the bar, the bartender served someone in front of me, and when it’s my turn to get served, she grabbed her phone and disappeared behind the fridge to take a personal call or text… that’s a bit rude. Anyway, I grabbed drinks and food, to my surprise, they charge you $26 AUD for a cheeseburger (normal price) but it is WITHOUT A PATTY!!! You have to add a beef patty for $6, bacon for $4 and extra cheese for $2. Quick math, $38 for a bloody burger, to which you have to add their weekend surcharge (10 or 15%). So basically it cost you more to eat a burger at this place than a steak! I stayed clear of the burger of course, which is sad cause that place used to make awesome burgers back in the days. I made the terrible mistake of ordering the fried calamari… the calamari was not even cooked, it looked like it was deeped in oil for 1 min, I’m gonna try to attach a picture so people can see how bad it is. I did not even bother complaining as the staff were so busy, and we waited 45min for the food, chicken Parma and “not so fried” calamari. Bad experience, will never go back to this place again, such a shame cause you guys used to rock. Another Melbourne venue that does not care about customer experience and just want to fill their pocket. What happened to...
