What an incredible experience we had last night! For our 3 year wedding anniversary, my husband and I wanted to do something a little unique but not an all nighter and this magic show at the Marriott Hotel (which we found on Groupon!) turned out to be absolutely perfect.

To start, the Marriott itself is stunning, so lux! I’d definitely recommend arriving early to enjoy a drink or even something to eat beforehand. They even offer a food and show package, which looked like such a great option and good value.

Once we arrived in the show room, the service was excellent. The space itself felt very intimate with around 60 seats, so you’re up close to the action no matter where you sit. The seats were comfortable, though even as a smaller person I did feel a little squished. Dress code is flexible, you could easily dress up for the occasion or keep it a bit more casual.

The star of the night, magician Luke, is an outstanding performer! He had that classic, old school magician charm. Sharp suit, commanding stage presence and a perfect mix of humor and mind blowing illusions. His tricks were jaw dropping. My husband and I like to think we’re pretty switched on, but we kept leaving each moment saying, “How did he do that?!” and none of our theories add up. We’re already planning to go back just to relive the experience all over again.

What I really loved was the guest participation. Everyone in the audience got a chance to be part of a trick, which made it feel so personal and engaging. (My engagement ring even had a chance to participate lol) It’s definitely a show that’s best suited to teens and adults, as some illusions are quite intricate, but honestly, I think two of our kids (aged 6 and 9) would still have been blown away because Luke keeps you hooked from start to finish.

The whole night was excellent value for money and I’d 100% recommend it to anyone looking for something special and unforgettable. In fact, I’m planning to gift this experience to friends for their anniversaries in the future because it’s that good. We’re still talking about the tricks now and I’m sure we will be for a long time.

If you're in Melbourne on a Friday night, book yourself in for this magic show. Our family loved it!! Luke was simply fantastic and kept the whole room engaged and in awe. Amazing recall of names too. Lots of audience engagement, and even my fairly shy 10yo was so excited about being picked as a volunteer. As a mum with kids in attendance, I particularly appreciated the clean humour.

We added the dinner component to our booking too. The two courses for adults were delicious and done well. The kids chose the steak from the kids' menu and it came very well done (we weren't asked what our preferences were) which our kids aren't used to. We had to request one to be redone as it was very chewy (which they did promptly). Lovely service from restaurant staff. And a special mention for their utmost care of our daughter's food allergy (we noted that in our booking and they were clearly on top of it from the moment...
