I can't believe the nightmare I experienced at the Melbourne Gold Company. I went in to ask about a 1oz gold minted bar and encountered the rudest, most arrogant person named Tom. From the moment I walked in, he looked down on me and my friend like we were beneath him. His first words were dripping with disdain: "You got cash? We only accept cash payment." Seriously?
The store was eerily quiet with no line or queue, yet Tom acted like he was doing us a huge favor just by speaking to us. After handing over the cash, Tom handed the gold bar - without any packaging! The manufacturer PAMP clearly provides packaging, but Tom smugly told me, "No it's not silly, what you see is what you get." His condescending tone was infuriating, and his total lack of professionalism was shocking.
Imagine buying a PS5 or TV from JB Hi-Fi and receiving it without the box - it's unthinkable! Yet, that's exactly what happened here. Even if they didn’t have the packaging, Tom could have been a lot nicer about it. Instead, he continued with his smart-aleck remarks. Something is seriously wrong with this guy; his attitude is atrocious and totally unacceptable.
I didn't come here to beg for freebies; I came to buy gold. But instead, I received the most appalling customer service of my life. I was absolutely floored and disgusted by how I was treated. Both my friend and I looked at eachother and were in total agreement - disgustingly appalling. Tom's behavior was beyond horrendous.
To make matters worse, I later found out they offer $5 for a 5-star review(signage on desk), which explains all the misleading positive reviews on Google. Tom's customer service doesn't match up at all with those glowing reviews. This place is a sham, relying on bribery to maintain a facade of respectability.
Even worse, when i asked for an invoice to be emailed to me, he proceeded to say it was impossible for an invoice to be emailed to me and it could not be done. In this day and age, emailing an invoice to my email is the simplest thing.
Do yourself a massive favor and avoid this place like the plague. There are plenty of other gold dealers who will appreciate your business and treat you with the respect and courtesy you deserve. Melbourne Gold Company is a disgrace. I was actually really excited to come here and get my first gold bar living 1 hour away. So disappointed with the service, 0 stars if I could.
Edit. Hi Michael and tom, we all know that I was talking about the packaging sleeve, also known as the "packaging." I appreciate your effort to clarify the situation. Refer to photos I've attached from Pamp website(A mint sleeve is provided with a beautiful dragon on front and description on back).
I must say, your editing skills are quite impressive, and I'm flattered by the like for my photo. Thank you for...
Read moreI have been dealing with Melbourne Gold Company for years, specifically with the owner Michael. Despite being warned that he's "dodgy”, I chose to store my gold and silver with him anyway. I believe in “innocent until proven guilty” For the most part, it was an okay experience, he built my trust and eventually, my now late mother went on to store some gold with him as well.
My mother just passed away and she left everything she had to my sister and myself; mum didn’t have much left to her name after all the medical bills, in fact we owe people money now, but even just in the weeks before my mama passed she would remind us that we have “the gold with michael”. She knew it was going to be a financial mess when she passed and it was important to her that she left us ‘something’. I reached out to Michael a few times after my mother passed with no response. I had to find alternative ways to get a hold of him for him to finally respond. To our shock, Michael told us that he is keeping the gold for himself and has refused return it to us. He has blatantly told me he sold the gold when he heard my mother died and is taking the money for himself.
We’re shaken!
Right now I am grieving the loss of my mother so Im not taking legal action against him at the moment, but I wanted to come on here and paint a very honest picture of MY experience dealing with Melbourne Gold Company…Anyone thinking about doing business with this...
Read moreCalled to ask a simple question about Silver Granules. The dealer told me to call back because he was busy with clients. I literally had my finger hovering over the order button to purchase $10k worth of gold and silver. Shake my damn head.
edit: It doesn't take very long to take ask for someones number, to return their call. Alternatively, you could have specified the time that was best for you. Don't just apathetically say "I'm busy with client's, call back later", I was going to be your client! Instead, we're now here wasting each other's time.
Of course you don't have a specific button called the "order 10k worth of gold and silver button", I was speaking in approximations. I had an order ready to place for a 5oz cast gold bullion, and either 1000 grams of silver granules, or 1kg abc cast silver bullion. If it meant coming into the office to place the order, so be it. The fact still remains that I was eager to place an order of high value to you, that you will not be receiving now.
Not a jealous competitor, just a disgruntled customer. I don't like attitude, I don't appreciate the smuggness and condescension. Especially when I was ready to throw money at you, and all you had to do was say "what's your number, i'll call you back", you didn't even have to be nice about it.
thanks...
