Sóma Bathhouse — Attraction in Melbourne

I had a wonderfully relaxing time at Soma bathhouse during my very first visit. The facilities are beautifully clean and the staff are amazing. Highly recommended.

I learnt about Soma via the Body Place and Get Nourished, which are another two amazing local businesses in Moonee Ponds. I love my regular training sessions at Body Place. It’s such a welcoming and encouraging space to invest in self care that sets you up for longer term health. Over the last year I’ve been focusing on strength and hypertrophy training. It can feel like a mighty effort to keep showing up after these types of intense sessions that often involve a lot of time under tension and pushing to beat that last personal best achieved.

Soma is a beautiful space where you can focus on self care in a different way to the gym. The infrared sauna is an amazing space to relax, focus on meditation or breath work or have a chat with a friend. The cold plunge took me a while to get used to as someone who doesn’t like to be cold. The first time I tried it I lasted not even a second! Now I can do between 10-15 minutes. It’s a great method of helping those hard working muscles recover after an intense gym session. I love finishing with the magnesium spa at Soma. It’s like that reward after the cold plunge. The spa jets feel like a massage on any sore muscles and really help to get me back into the gym for that next heavy weights session.

It’s a shame to give a negative review but didn’t have a very positive experience here. The staff was unfriendly and didn’t provide a warm or welcoming experience. We purchased a private room package and were told at the start of our visit that the spa area was communal, however when we were inside the sauna after the spa, we were quite rudely told to leave by the staff and told to return to our private room and not to use the communal sauna. my friend and I were going through a stressful time and came to the spa to relax not encounter unfriendly staff, it was quite disappointing and would recommend the company invest in better customer service experience

On a side, the spa itself (there’s only one spa!) was tiny and can only comfortable fit 4 people, so it was annoying having to wait around for larger groups to leave for a turn in it. It’s quite expensive for what you get, especially if you reserve a private room and don’t get your...

Honestly it makes me sad to leave this review but the staff were so rude it kind of ruined our experience. Wanted to love it, but unfortunately it was overpriced (we pay $40 for 90 mins with a real sauna and nicer facility here in Brissy), but even that would’ve been forgivable if the staff weren’t so rude. A little bit of kindness and intention goes a long way, especially when your customers are the ones supporting and upholding your business. Hope this can be an invitation for staff to do better. We won’t be returning unfortunately.
