The Loft Studio Melbourne — Attraction in Melbourne

I flew down to Melbourne from Sydney to meet my fully remote team and have our photos taken. I heard about The Loft Studio and fell in love with the space through the photos online. It definitely didn't disappoint!

The lighting was beautiful. The props were stunning, and the facilities available were so thoughtful, including the charging station, tea + coffee, plus a speaker system for music.

Dian even went to the effort of providing us with a cake stand and matches to use for some photo ideas for the business birthday I'd mentioned to her, which made it super helpful!

Due to a blocked path on the driveway as a result of construction work at the time, it was a little tricky to find the entrance of The Loft. But Dian ensured all access instructions were emailed a few days prior to make it easy. (I'm sure it wouldn't have been as difficult if the construction wasn't there haha, but perhaps give yourself an extra 10mins or so just in case!)

It is also important to note the stairs-only access prior to arriving, so you're mindful of needing to carry heavy luggage or equipment up the flights of stairs.

Overall though, this definitely didn't impact our experience at all and we absolutely LOVE the entire space (it's huge) and all of the props available!

Extremely poor communication the day of our shoot and wasn't given access until 12:30pm (access started at 9am and finished at 1:00pm). I contacted The Loft the morning of to gain access, to which I was then told access would be given once payment had been made yet I hadn't received an invoice to pay. The invoice was then sent at 8:59 after several reminder messages in the morning (but access to the building is from 9am). I paid the invoice and then followed up with phone calls and text messages for hours to then get an email with access being sent at 12:30. This was only after i sent a message saying i'm disappointed in the lack of communication and expect a refund. Luckily La Fabrica next door has almost an identical studio and was free and saved the day for us to use the studio on the spot.

I've heard some great things about this studio and have had friends shoot at this location before so I'm sure if you actually gain access it could be great, but I wouldn't take...

Because it is SO versatile and incredible lighting. They have curtains with gorgeous backlight, huge windows for some gorgeous morning harsh light, plenty of artificial lighting and studio lights as well.

There are a huge variety of backdrops, walls, textures and colours.

This studio comes with more than enough props, furniture and facilities to suit any client need. I love the private dressing room and makeup station, the garment steamer and the kitchen.
