Baby Elephant — Restaurant in Melbourne

Baby Elephant is our everyday go to. The coffee is phenomenal; (I used to have a normal almond latte and now a decaf almond latte - can’t taste the difference)! All milks are available, lots of little treats, and it’s my husband’s favourite hot chocolate in the West. They even give marshmallows to the adults!

Best of all though is the unwavering commitment to service. All the staff are gracious, kind, and remember all the little details. They know our names, orders, and the cherry on top is the time they take to make my daughter’s day by sneaking in an extra marshmallow for her, or stopping to have a “chat” and cuddle with her even though she can’t talk yet!

There have been a number of cafe businesses on this site but thankfully this version now opens on weekends... all day breakfasts... friendly staff and very comfortable surroundings...inside is a good spot to sit in comfort but the cover outside allows for out side seating with shade for sun and the rain. Located near town hall and footscray city primary it used by staff and parents respectively in the week and locals at the weekend. I’d show you a photo of my miserable toastie if I could! When I pointed out that the cheese hadn’t melted and the bread was still white on one side, the owner explained that they use a salamander rather than a sandwich press. Why!? Why not spend $50 on a sandwich press that would make perfect toasties? Truly bizarre. I can only imagine this total lack of common sense applies to the rest of their overpriced food....
