A beautiful 5 km walk along the banks of the fast flowing, Yarra River from the Mayer bridge near the golf course in the west to the Warburton Highway Signs bridge near the Warburton Holiday Park in the east, passing the suspension bridge at the tennis courts and Brisbane bridge, the footy ground bridge, the old Sanitarium Weetabix factory suspension bridge. The track extends on both sides of the river with numerous opportunities to shorten the walk if need be. Stop to see the 350 million year old fish fossils, ripple marks and mud cracks in the large stone blocks that form the new Warburton wharf and viewing platform below the shops. The tracks are slightly of the road and therefore provide quiet and peace to the walkers. The sounds of flowing water of Yarra is soothing. There are ducks, lorikeets and cockatoos that add to the scenic beauty of this place. I think fishing is allowed here ASI saw few people doing that (but check and confirm before you throw that line).
There are water fountains at several places making it easier to stay hydrated on a warm or humid day.
The tracks might be a bit rough for people using wheelchairs as they are not paved or flat.

Read moreBeautiful place to go for a day out or a holiday as there is a Caravan park and cottages for hire. Cottages are not great for wheelchairs as the hills and acces points are very steep. The river is a great place to swim and cool down. Walking trail only for the mobile able people because there are roots and rocks sticking out and some places you need to step up and down over rocky spots.
