I would not recommend this restaurant. My family and I dined here tonight and it was a very disappointing experience. A large group of Chinese partrons sat down for dinner shortly after our entrees were served. From that point onwards all of us remaining customers (I should say, none of us Chinese) were completely ignored as we watched them promptly receive plate after plate of food. I finally got the attention of one of the four waitresses who were all busy solely serving these customers. By this stage one hour had passed since we placed our order and my 4 and 8 year old daughters, who had done exceptionally well with the long wait, were starting to get really hungry. The couple seated behind us had enough waiting for their food, took their bottle of wine and walked out completely unnoticed by the staff. Our food was finally served just as the large group were walking out. To add further disappointment, my mother's chicken and sweet corn soup was cold and the dish I ordered was forgotten. Lastly, the food was overpriced. A serving of three measly dumplings cost $10.80. Worst dining experience in...

Food was good but service was appalling. We booked a table of 9 including 3 kids and were half an hour late. I asked for a high chair and was told they don't have any, which was weird for a restaurant. Anyway, we sit there for 20 minutes waiting for someone to take our order and finally, after telling the staff twice we want to order, a senior staff member comes over and tells us off for being half an hour late! Apparently it would take 20-25 minutes or so to get the food and this was our fault. We didn't really understand how the two were connected, but we decided to order anyway. The bizarrely passive aggressive woman snatched the menus from us and dumped a stack of bowls on our table for us to distribute because we were apparently not good customers. 15 minutes later the food starts coming out we all wondered what the problem was in the first place. The food was pretty good, though probably $10 more expensive than it should have been.

I've been to plenty of restaurants but I've never been told off for being 30 minutes late. It's bad practice to insult your...

Absolutely gorgeous little venue. The owner Ka is on hand working the floor and grafting with the staff. The passion and core values are clear here. Family restaurant, since 1987. Atmosphere is just ideal. Great lighting, music selection and volume level and decor.

Food is fantastic. Ka recommended choosing a selection of favourites (all house made and everything made to order - so great for allergens/dietary requirements and preference alike) We were absolutely on board and proceeded to have a meal worth remembering. The Singapore noodles, Garlic king prawns and a multitude of appetisers to share.

Food is well balanced and fresh. No shortcuts or flavour enhancers here - left feeling fully satiated and keen to return on our next visit.

Further mention also to the girls serving on the night we visited. Attentive service and attention to detail, extremely friendly and everyone looks very extremely happy at work. This feeds so much into the customer experience. You must visit Jade Inn if you are in...

We have a small number of restaurants where we like to dine when in Port Douglas and the always reliable Jade Inn is one of them. We have dined here quite a few times over the years. We had heard rumours from some locals that things had changed for the worse. This certainly was NOT the case! While there is a particular reason that the very extensive menu no longer exists, the food has remained as good as ever. The service was very good. We were served by Cooper and also had a good discussion with son Ka and owner, Karen. We have met Karen a few times before and she is wonderfully gracious and perfect host! You can see Karen in the photos here. The food is terrific. It does come quickly, so if you want a break between courses, make sure you ask for one when ordering. When in Port Douglas, don't miss the opportunity to dine at one of the town's great long-standing restaurants. Jade Inn is also very popular for take away orders. Thanks once again for a great dining experience! We will be back soon :-)

We dropped in to the busy Jade Inn without a reservation and managed to get a table for two outside. Where you want to be on a fine July evening in Port Douglas. We started off with standard fair in dumplings and spring rolls. The steamed dumplings were particularly good. The spring rolls completely satisfactory highlighted by the thick and tasty plum sauce. The mains is where scrumptious began. I had Mongolian lamb with the theatre of the sizzling plate and the good wife had garlic prawns plus a special fried rice to share. These choices created partisan mains with me not a huge fan of prawns and her not liking lamb. We both agreed the sauces for each dish and the special fried rice were amazing, absolute star dishes. I had one beer and we shared sparkling water ending up with a bill just under $120. Seriously good value for such a fantastic meal. Highly recommended.
