Took the kids to have a look inside after driving past so often, the friendly guide gave us a clipboard with pictures of objects to spot around the Old Mill and Homestead, a great way to get my 3yr old to focus a bit! He loved going up and down the stairs of the mill (very steep so watch your footing) and was just a bit disappointed that we couldn't 'turn it on' but we left with a colouring sheet and stamp on the hand, and followed up with a YouTube video at home on a working windmill (Milkshake Monkeys Amazing Adventures) and making banana bread. It is a pretty interactive place as you can go in and up the first floor of the windmill and also into the cottage. The signs are very easy to read and are informative. The objects dotted around are also labelled which is helpful! 🏷
Entry is free but donations 💰 are an option which is easy. Lovely friendly volunteers and well kept area.

Read moreI love historical places and this Old Mill amazed me. I stand in awe how the aesthetic beauty of this structure was preserved making it one of the most significant landmark in South Perth. History has it that, this Old Mill was built in 1835 and produced 680kg of flour until it ceased production in 1859. The mill has then been used as a residence, a hotel, a wine saloon, and a poultry farm. After its repair and upgrade in 1992, it was vested in the National Trust.
