Located at 6/23 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo, New South Wales, Australia šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ I saw this restaurant advertised a month or so ago and today, finally I got the chance to dine there. It’s one of several restaurants facing the water on Barangaroo Avenue. I was looking for it and actually walked straight past it without realising it. There’s nothing terribly striking about the design to make it capture someone’s attention. Saying that, the restaurant was extremely busy for a Friday lunch so this shows how popular it must be. The staff were friendly enough but not really overly welcoming, didn’t really smile a lot and even though it was crowded, they seemed to find the time to stand around chatting to each other. I had one of the lunch specials, the chilli, chopped chicken with garlic and Thai Basil for $27.00. I ordered this with Roti Bread $5.00 and Jasmine Rice $5.00. The food was delicious and I thought very reasonably priced given the location. It was also served very promptly, hardly any waiting at all. I did like that you could see directly into the kitchen, it is always a plus for me. I thought the menu was pretty small, not really a big selection to choose from, I was a little disappointed in the choices available. The seating is outdoors with covering to protect from the elements. I came by public transportation which was easy as you have the ferries ā›“ļø close by as well as trains šŸš† and the Metro šŸš‡. The restaurant itself didn’t have any toilet 🚻 facilities and I don’t know where the closest are. I had a lovely meal here, but my overall experience was pretty mediocre. I don’t think I will return. The service let me down....

I had a pretty bad experience at this restaurant. I think that the food is good but I am very disappointed by the service. First of all when I ordered a curry with tofu, the waitress n 1 did not specify how spicy it was. I was not able to eat it, my mouth was burning and my eyes full of tears. Then, I specified to waiter n 2 that this plate was too spicy and that I could not eat, he replied me that this plate was not really spicy and put the blame on me. Everybody does not have the same tolerance, and it was the first time I was eating curry... He suggested me to add rice to my plate. I believed him and ordered rice, but it did not change anything, I really think it was a upsell for him. I talked about my issue to waitress n 3 and ask her if she can replace the plate (since waiter n 2 was not able to offer me this obvious option). She replied me that the restaurant does not do that, and also that it is my fault because I was not eating it the "correct way", by putting the curry on top of the rice instead of mixing the rice and the curry. Seriously, put the blame on the client again? If there is a special way to eat this plate, then why waitress n 1 did not specify it? She brought me vegetables (it was actually leaves) and a soup (it was actually vegetable stock) pretending it will help - I still try to figure out how this will render the plate less spicy. At the end of the day I spent around 30$ for a plate I was not able to eat, and have the worst service ever. It is not 1 waiter that was not able to address my request, but 3...

We reserved a table for 9 but 3 of our friends were late. The 6 of us started to order the set meal for $70/person, so they told us that we have to move to a smaller table if we are ordering a set meal. We don’t understand why we need to move to a smaller table but we followed their instructions. We asked where will our friends sit once they arrive and the staff said they will add chairs. One of our friends arrived so we asked the staff if our friend can eat the excess food from the set meal since the 6 of us are not able to finish the food, the staff said we CAN as long as our friend orders another another dish, so we did. WE FOLLOWED THEIR INSTRUCTION. But when another friend arrived and is asking for the menu to order, a staff immediately told us that ā€œI SAW WHAT YOU DID, YOU CAN’T LET YOUR FRIEND EAT THE EXCESS FOODā€ (he repeatedly said, ā€œI saw what you didā€) as if we did something wrong We are really planning to order another dish for the second person who came late because that’s the condition they initially told us when the first late person arrived but apparently this still does not allow them to eat the excess food from the set meal. THEIR INSTRUCTIONS ARE SO CONFUSING!

One more thing, for some reason the staff who took my friend’s order looked so frustrated and it’s very obvious that she wanted out friend to hurry up. Not a good experience for a tourist. Not a good experience for the cost of their meal.

Thankfully we’re able to find a good coffee shop nearby with very nice staff! At least we ended the night...

Rear find. I feel like it's Thai food which is more modern. We had a Tom yam Matinee which was amazing. Felt like the known tom yum with a kick. Food was very good and well presented. It was appetizing and enjoyable. Not too much hot spicy, meaningful taste. Check the size of dishes when you order. As we started we thought it might me not enough but as we went though it was a struggle to finish as we took it slow and enjoyed it. Very nice atmosphere, we went in a cold day and the heaters were already on. We walked in around 6:30 without a reservation and found plenty of seating. As we passed 7 all tables were full. So pls make a reservation to save your space. Especially if you are coming with a big group a booking would be helpful. With the desserts, I took the risk to try the money balls. That was a delicious treat. It's largely made of Coconut as it taste. Don't forget to try it 😜, I had a feeling it's presented as balls of a money šŸ˜€, not sure where the funny Thai name comes from. But delicious dessert. It's convenient to take the ferry from this location if you need to cross the water. It was cheaper than a taxi. Few other restaurants around, I reckon this is the best out of the lot šŸ˜€. Staff was very friendly as all Thai people are . Very respectful. We had a good experience and would love to come again. Thank you guys.

On a recent work trip to Sydney, I chased a colleague’s tip and ended up at Muum Maam in Barangaroo — polished, waterfront dining that didn’t feel soulless for once. We ordered crab fried rice, Penang lamb shank, and a mixed mushroom stir-fry with jasmine rice. The crab fried rice was subtle but punchy — fluffy grains laced with wok hei and sweet crab meat, topped with crispy shallots. Comfort food, elevated. The lamb shank in Penang curry was the real deal. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, drowned in a rich, spicy coconut gravy that didn’t hold back. Big flavour, bigger satisfaction. The stir-fried mushrooms were a sleeper hit — garlicky, earthy, with a chilli-basil kick that rounded everything out. Service was easy-going and sharp. The wine list held up. And the view — classic Sydney, all sparkle and boats. This is Thai street food in a tailored suit. It’s got polish, but it remembers where it came from. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
