Read moreA Hidden Gem for Filipino Comfort Food in Sydney!
Greenknowe Cafe absolutely nails it with their lomi—a rare find in Sydney and a true treat for anyone craving Filipino flavors. The bowl arrives steaming hot, generously packed with thin noodles, tender meat, perfectly cooked egg, and crunchy toppings that add just the right texture. It’s rich, savory, and soul-warming—comfort food at its finest.
As someone who grew up with Batangas-style lomi, I was thrilled to find a version this close to the real deal. I love that they serve it with the right condiments. The only tweak I’d suggest to make it truly authentic? Use thick and flat noodles, and thicken the soup just a bit more to capture that signature gooey, velvety broth Batangueños know and love. Would be better to add chicharon instead of ground pork too. But even as it stands, this is hands-down one of the best lomis you’ll find outside the Philippines.
Pair it with their excellent coffee and you’ve got a meal that hits all the right notes. Can’t wait...
Read moreWe found this place quite by accident during a short stay we had in Sydney not so long ago.
We were staying just around the corner at The Macleay Hotel, Macleay Street, Sydney and were looking for a nice interesting place to have brunch.
After a short stroll towards Elizabeth Bay we found Greenknowe cafe and were instantly intrigued by the delicious Filipino themed menu that was on display along with the lovely relaxed and friendly ambience of the location. So in we went.
The hardest thing by far was making a choice from all the wonderful dishes on offer!!!
The three of us chose completely different items from the menu and, suffice to say, we all completely cleared our plates in record time. Not a word was spoken from start to finish.
Such delicious food and all prepared absolutely perfectly. And the coffees and drinks were delicious too.
Just can’t wait to get back to Sydney so we can start working our way through the rest the wonderfully inventive menu!!
Just yum!...
