Sirius Cove Beach is a deep, calm inlet of Sydney Harbour, renamed for the flagship of the First Fleet, HMS Sirius. It’s where they removed barnacles from the ship’s hull in 1789, a mere 6 months before the ship was wrecked. This all took place on the land Borogegal People, in a suburb we now know as Mosman.

Today the area is predominantly used by those with hounds. The Sirius Cove Reserve is an off-leash dog beach all day on weekdays, and before 9am and after 4pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. Nobody taught these dogs to read though, so on this public holiday so there were balls and hounds flying every which way, with the quiet punctured by excited barks.

On the eastern edge of the deep bay there is a set of stairs down from the sandstone retaining wall that will save you a bit of a trek across the shallows. It takes you in well beyond the hounds if they’re not your bag. The water is beautiful and clear, and filled with fish. We saw many airborne flashes of silver jumping between the moored boats. In terms of amenities, there’s a toilet block, dog and people watering fountains, barbecues and plenty of shade making this a nice place to swim on a hot day. Parking is reasonable, both close to the entrance to the reserve, and on the...

We were here on 2nd Jan with our dog. While we didn't swim in the water we definitely stood in it to play fetch and encourage our dog to swim. The water was dark brown and full of litter and ash from the NYE fireworks (I presume). Shortly after reaching home I fell violently ill. Few hours later my partner did too. Both of us had eaten different things that day and can only narrow it down to catching a virus from this contaminated beach! There's a review on trip advisor saying there's sewerage seeping into this beach too. True or not, I highly recommend you stay away from this contaminated dog beach. There are much nicer and healthier ones...

Wow - what a place for Dogs & their Owners ! Mosman council thanks for this small patch of "paradise" ! If you come here with your "best friend / best family member ever" you'll be rewarded ! Just the right size of greenery a "jewel" of a beach and of course entertainment galore ! Our pooch couldn't get enough of it ! Ball in the water - out of the water, up the seawall down the seawall and of course there's the park ! Plenty of bins in there for number twos , but sorry not water station for the doggies ! Seriously , if you want good fun come here with her or him and enjoy a great...

Beautiful beach for dogs and kids. Me and my friend went their with a dog and had a blast. The water is shallow but deep enough to have fun. The dog absolutely loves the beach and hanging out with the other dogs that were there. The Cove has a large grass area with a fenced park and a small beach. The Cove is located in a lovely isolated area with good parking. Overall, this place is 5 stars, but it could have the boats further out.

Sirius Cove Dog Beach is an absolute gem! This park has it all: a beautiful beach for the pups to frolic in the waves, convenient bins for easy cleanup, lush grassy areas for picnics, and even BBQ facilities for a fun day out. I could easily spend the entire day here, enjoying the sunshine and watching my furry friend play. It's a five-star destination for any dog lover!
